What's competitive to snag an interview these days?

Sorry to hijack - I found this thread helpful as a potential candidate as well, and thought others pursuing here might be curious.

That's a great question. The short answer is: nobody really knows. It's certainly higher than it was in the hiring frenzy after Covid, which is absolutely stale and useless info now.

Any very recent invitees (like got the interview in the last few months), who feel they are relatively low numbers of hours who can post:
  • Total time, turbine time, and PIC time. Also note if civilian or military (and heavy/fighter/helo), or any other pertinent info.
That's probably the only way to sleuth out any kind of answer. Good luck!

Got a recent CJO with Delta. I'm a fighter guy with +1800TT / 1450TPIC.

Background of Interviewee’s
- C-17(reserve baby)/C-130/KC-135/P-8/EA-18G/F-16
- Breeze (Propel program)
- Go Jet
- Spirit
- SkyWest: 23(Legacy) and 25 y/o, both captains
- Frontier: mid 20's y/o FO
- Other regionals I can’t remember.

Hope this helps.

You mean good timing and good luck. Quality of work had little to do with it.

23 year old captain? You gotta be 23 just to BE a captain. Crazy lucky.

I know timing plays a large part…..but Ben Hogan used to say something along the lines of “the harder I practice, the luckier I get.”

the employee candidate had to put the time and effort to rack up those hours at a young age. When a lot of other people might be taking a more scenic route.

I mean, I guess. I'm 2.5 years into this job and honestly would not be able to do this for 40 years. It's a jackpot for sure tho. Just boring as hell.
