I understand that the 717 or 88 will be the fastest, but I'm trying to get an idea of how much longer for the 737 or 320. Any info is greatly appreciated.

If I had to guess, and this is all this is, I'd say, all other things being equal, the 88 and 71 would result in a permanent line about 2-6 months sooner. However its worth noting that even when you "get a line" in a more senior/slower progressing aircraft, your same seniority counterpart in the more junior/faster progressing aircraft will almost always have more relative seniority and more junior line holders below them. So even if "time to a line" was the same, the junior plane will typically get you more bidding power faster (days off you want, report/release times, etc).

It's not a cut and dry answer. Depends a lot on what base you want to be in and how many they really end up hiring after you.

Also, depends how well your category is staffed and whether or not the senior guys choose to bid reserve.

IMO, too many variables to give an actual timeline. IF they keep hiring a lot, then it shouldn't take too much longer in the junior bases. Some of the more senior bases, it could take much longer.

It's also worth noting that in some categories it goes:
#1-30...good lines:D
#31-60..OK lines
#61-75..not so good lines:(
#76-90..reserve
#91-100..lines so bad makes you wish you were on reserve

I would add that if you are senior in your class, you might bid the category and base that has the most openings for your drop. Obviously people can scatter quickly to other bases with AEs, but will be below you initially. With them hiring 100 a month in June and July, could be a quick way to hold a line if you are flexible. The NYC M88, 320, and 73N bases are relatively small so if they have 20+ spots in any of those, you'd get a nice seniority pad right out of the gate.

What are the typical routes for the 320? I have a decent idea about the other options..
