The exception to both is if you bid to a new category. In that case, the seat lock does not apply. New category as in any other airplane that was not offered in INDOC? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk A new fleet type or a base that currently doesn't have a current aircraft. So, the E190s will be fair game for all new hires on their seat locks. If they added the 88 to SEA, for example, that would be biddable, too. |
A more practical example would be the MSP 73N category Crew Resources is hinting at.

Also if you get displaced out of your seat, you can bid to any aircraft/base that your seniority can hold and not incur a seat lock.

I like it! If you're a 4 Apr guy or earlier, I nominate you to plan it. Anyone second the motion? Say aye! :D |

- Don't ever crash. - Don't ever volunteer for deployments that involve sand or end in "stan". - Don't ever volunteer to plan the squadron Christmas party. (Granted this ain't a squadron Christmas party, but it's close enough.) :D

Another way to break a seat lock is to bid an upgrade.
So.....really 4 ways to break a seat lock - Mandatory Displacement (no training committment); Voluntary Displacement (training committment); New category (training committment) and First-time Captain upgrade (training committment). |

Ok, that needs some explaining. If you're senior enough to hold a line on a plane you can get bumped off the airframe??? If that's correct, how often does that happen?
(BTW, all you quiet types out there owe me a coke for asking all these questions!) If you were a LAX 717 pilot, you could bid for any catagory your seniority could hold. I wouldn't worry about it at all if you are eventually going to be ATL based. |
