History has been made

First the confederate flag came down over the South Carolina Capitol then the delta pilots voted down their TA 65/35.

Whereisalpa 07-10-2015 10:42 AM

Get out the broom, it's time to sweep this house clean.

Flamer 07-10-2015 10:43 AM

97%, or 10,713, of eligible pilots voted.

35%, or 3766 voted in favor of the tentative agreement.

65%, or 6947 voted against the tentative agreement.

As a heart attack.

And the stock is climbing like a homesick angel.

Boatbuilder 07-10-2015 10:44 AM

Link please. We'd like to see the official notice.

mtbguy 07-10-2015 10:47 AM

I honestly can't believe it. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks sometimes....

tunes 07-10-2015 10:48 AM

Outstanding news!

RoughLandings 07-10-2015 10:48 AM

This is impressive. Great job guys!

I didn't have a vote (newbie) but I, and most other FNGs I know would have added to that no list as well.

Kabosh 07-10-2015 10:48 AM

Fellow Delta Pilots,

Earlier today, we completed the membership ratification process. Voting closed at 2pm EDT and ALPA’s Election Ballot and Certification Board confirmed and certified the outcome of the tentative agreement vote. The voting results are as follows:

97%, or 10,713, of eligible pilots voted.

35%, or 3766 voted in favor of the tentative agreement.

65%, or 6947 voted against the tentative agreement.

As a result of this outcome, I have called for a special meeting of the Delta MEC on July 21. At that meeting we will determine our next step, and reassess our strategic plan. As we formulate our path, we will continue to communicate with you, the line pilot.

Your participation in this process has been, and will continue to be, central to the ideals of the member-driven union that is the hallmark of ALPA. I urge you to remain engaged.

The process of membership ratification and the difficult decisions involved are never easy. Emotions often run high regardless of your perspective. In the end, however, we must strive to respect the differing opinions and seek the common ground we all share as pilots. The majority has spoken, and we must move forward together.

In Unity,

Captain Mike Donatelli

Delta MEC Chairman

qball 07-10-2015 10:49 AM

Wow....has anyone run in to the room yelling P E B?

Whereisalpa 07-10-2015 10:49 AM

I am proud of my South brothers & sisters!!! Money is money, but we never would have got those work rules back!!! Way to go guys!!!

Purple Drank 07-10-2015 10:51 AM

This is a proud day. Labor risk is back on the table.

Gotta keep the momentum going!

Recalls recalls recalls.

Fetzervalve 07-10-2015 10:52 AM

TIME TO REPLACE ALL TONE-DEAF DALPA MEC MEMBERS WHO ATTEMPTED TO PUSH THROUGH THIS ABOMINATION. It is hilarious how so many of these people are aspiring ALPA leader wannabes like Lee CHOKE. Time to return to full-time flying....:D:cool:

80ktsClamp 07-10-2015 10:53 AM

Incredible. This is a mandate if there ever was one given the history of this pilot group. It speaks volumes to just how out of touch the unionoids are from the masses.

Now we enter uncharted waters. Some major house cleaning needs to be done, particularly in the NC and Strategic planning areas.

FlyZ 07-10-2015 10:56 AM

Yeah!!!! The Delta pilots have spoken. Time to clean out ALPA of the Yes voters and move on. I was starting to lose hope as the job I worked hard to get was being slowly flushed down the drain. MEC Admins need to go as well. Hopefully the No efforts can now be directed to fix our Union. Who is in charge of that effort?

Boatbuilder 07-10-2015 10:56 AM

Thanks for posting. 2/3 vote no, a very clear message that we are tired of being taken for granted.

I really don't see how we can continue with the crowd that insisted we would be doomed if we voted no.

I agree - hard to imagine that our Reps could be so out of touch with the Pilot group.

I did not want to start a recall drive until the voting was over but now we really do recall the yes voters. At a minimum that will slow things down - the last thing we need to do is rush anything now.

SO when does the PEB commence?

Great job Delta Pilots not buying into the fear tactics!

Scoop :)

MoonShot 07-10-2015 11:05 AM

Proud of my fellow pilots!

Cheddar 07-10-2015 11:09 AM

Congrats! And thanks to y'all for holding the line!

Recalls

Changing the ATL reps will result in a complete shift of power within ALPA. If you are willing to be at a LEC meeting in ATL, or if you are willing to have your vote counted via proxy, please messege me on this forum. I am creating a list and will need proxies to be carried by members as well. (The most anyone can carry is 3.)
Thanks to all who voted but now is the second and more important step.

No need to fear. RA and the gang might come out kicking, after all he was hoping to be a child star on the Investor's call on the 15th and now will have to answer about the TA being voted down.
Company will be back at the table within 12 months. We are gonna be hiring 700+ pilots/year for a LONNNNG time. OE trip pulls and 2 year seat lock for new hires is high priority for them to reduce the astronomic cost of trainning. A lot of money to be lost if they drag this out on these two clauses, let alone everything else.
If they drag it out for 2-5 years, I will keep my PS at $2.5b trigger and decent work rules. Its a win win for us. No need to rush and lets only sign a great TA.
We keep our JV
We keep DCI where it is
We keep our Profit Sharing
We keep OE trips
We keep reserve rules
We keep (insert whatever is important to you here)

Couldn't agree more. I'm so proud to be a Delta pilot today.

Absolutely imperative that the YES voting reps are sent back to the line and the MEC administration be completely purged. If they had any integrity at all, they would already have tendered their resignations. They will likely need to be removed with a crow bar however.

Carl

MOTOJOE 07-10-2015 11:18 AM

How about we keep the sick as is! Also

PurpleToolBox 07-10-2015 11:18 AM

Congratulations to the Delta pilots for standing up for a crappy TA that never should have made it to the pilots.

Our negotiating goes back to work on Monday and hopefully we will see some more progress at FedEx.

dragon 07-10-2015 11:19 AM

Great news! Any idea what type of earth quake just struck on Va. Ave?

Hero68 07-10-2015 11:21 AM

Donutelli has called for a Special MEC meeting on July 21 st to reevaluate the plan of action....it is grossly apparent that they had NO Plan B...priceless!

PigeonF16 07-10-2015 11:34 AM

What's on the agenda for 21 July MEC meeting? Is it too late to get an agenda item added?

Stinsat7 07-10-2015 11:37 AM

Proud to be a Delta pilot. Rocking my NO vote bag tag with a little extra pride today.

Dc8co 07-10-2015 11:38 AM

So is the $30 million back on the table?
As they are in violation again!
RA wants China, that jv would have solved his widebody problem by using someone else's widebody's...

dragon 07-10-2015 11:39 AM

WSJ has the story. Here's the Headline:

Large Majority of Delta Pilots Reject Three-Year Contract

Hard to tell. This utterly corrupt MEC administration has withheld the JV grievance settlement language from us.

The company is in another 3 year measurement period. It looks like just the Alitalia flights that will be pulled from Sky Team if code shared with Etihad will put them in compliance.
