I thought that the alpa guys in private would have a lot more substantive arguments for the TA then some of the weaker arguments put forth here prior to the TA, but no. You bid LCA you're simply abusing the system and it needs to be fixed. You ever called in sick? Abuser. You push back against productivity changes that reduce pilots? You're costing the fpl guys money. You're an abuser. And that's just all from fb. The more I read from fb the more i do believe our guys wrote the language in the TA on sick leave and oe lca and the company just went with it. I think I read one comment from one of the big alpa guys on chit chat that he wants pilots here to be the most productive they can so we can go beat united or something. But flight pay loss? Well, that's my right! I don't want to fly the line, the line sucks... https://www.blackgate.com/wp-content...-25-420-75.jpg I guess the lustful focus on payrates at the expense of work rules makes sense if you're paid the rates but never work under the rules. It sucks. The line at Delta on it's worst day on the MD-88 doing 5 legs a day into ATL in summer is better than any office gig. |

Sadly, they still seem to view this pilot group as petulant childern who cannot seem to follw directions. We have leadership who has repeatedly told us there is no better deal available...and these same people, who brought us this TA, some 6 months early are going to continue to negotiate for us? They will deliver that same self fufilling phrophecy and hope to get a 51 percent approval. |

I've told this boring story a thousand times to a thousand poor guys:eek: but, you think that cuz your actually a pilot. I was on the staff in the USAF with guys like you and me who counted the days till we went back to line fighter/flying squadrons. However, there were lots and lots of guys who "like working the issues" (quote from a good friend who hit the ATC staff as a captain and retired as an 0-6 on the staff). I saw these guys as a UPT instructor. They were academy guys who were there cuz their friends were there. They were ROTC guys who were there because their dad's were pilots. Anyway, you get the picture. That's why I've never bought the DPA thing that it will all change. I predict those office guys will be doing DPA office stuff in 5 years after the name change. The more things change the more they remain the same:( Ferd |

Not usually enough "prestige" in the gig for the type. I have seen more of it lately as folks follow the crowd to the new greener pastures. I agree 100% on the DPA thing. If guys want to recall their reps, have at it. I think at a min the MEC chair needs to go, not necessarily because he's out to get Delta pilots, but because he did some unprofessional stuff during the TA- particularly the yelling. But bringing in DPA is a head scratcher for me, no matter the initial push to clean house, you will eventually end up with mostly the same guys who would have done ALPA work. And they are generally good Delta pilots who at the very least THINK they are doing what's best for the group. |

I commute and I have a 6 year old for whom I'm a single parent. I've been able to make it to one whole LEC meeting in 7 years. Any inkling of even considering ALPA work in the future was erased when I saw how disrespectful a handful of guys at the meeting were to the reps. I don't have issues w guys voicing their issues/complaints, but this was over the top. And that was the "in public" version of the relationship. |

The meeting I made it to was the SLC LEC meeting in early June. It was held not long after the TA was put out, so I'll acknowledge there were more likely to be guys wanting to vent than a standard LEC meeting. We can still be grown ups when we disagree with each other or come across issues that we don't like. |

The 88 is the 88 especially in the summer and 5 leg days where you never get the cabin temp below 85 much less the cockpit below 90 and every leg is an loe complete with some Mel brain teaser. And then you have a four day and then another four day and then one day off and another four day because no matter what your % in category is, what pbs spits out never meets expectations. And then imagine a chunk of senior trips being removed before you can bid on them. And you're going to face this month after month after month with no break... I guess i should say I get why fpl is so addictive. What was that about an office job again? |

No proof. Just seems plausible reading their stuff. And I'm not starting it, I'm repeating it from fb and chit chat and using the things I've read from MH and MS and Curly and so on as my guide to say, I actually could find that to be plausible.
What do you get paid on fpl? 92 hours at whatever you can hold? That's no ordinary office job. Like Ferd pointed out ....there are those who seem to gravitate to the office/training/union gig. There are some guys that have been doing one or more of these almost continuously since I was a new hire. I'm glad there are guys out there that want to do those things because I don't want to do it (been there and just want to be a crew dawg). The problem (speaking from personal experience) is that when you do it too long, you tend to lose touch and perspective with the line. There are some good non line people doing good work out there..but I think our union leadership has lost touch.

Cheers. I'm voting yes. When does the vote open? |
If you lost a battle.
Then regrouped, attacked and lost again. Is that a Pyrrhic victory? Or a suicide run? |

It is, however, not terribly far off the mark from the type of stuff we've seen from DPA and Caplinger in the past. It's the exact kind of stuff that lost them a great deal of followers in the not so distant past.
