Our sick bank is not designed to be "paid personal time".
Its for when you are sick. Period.

Guys who are using it as personal time are abusing it.

Find those guys. Bust them hard. Don't punish the whole pilot group.

If we want some paid personal time that's fine by me but we will have to negotiate for that. Its not the system we have now.

You are absolutely correct, however we have 100 hours of unverified sick time. During this 100 hours the pilot and noone else evaluates his or her fitness for duty. This evaluation is the sole responsibility of the pilot. If that number is exceeded the company may require a doctors verification. Also if pilot chooses to verify by doctors certificate he or she may.

Anyone who argues against a pilots self determination is exploring a very slippery slope.

Let's not forget, the camel got it's nose under the tent in C2012 regarding the sick leave verification. Why wasn't that enough for the company? Ask yourself. Now they're back for another wack.

What will they be asking in C2018? How bout a the video of your colon rectal exam?

Uvena is running for NC chair? Another one of the entrenched bureaucrats trying to secure his future on the dalpa tit.

Judas Priest. How do we get rid of these jokers?

Hank,

Not happy with what they wanted, but I think the desire to move to 15 days v. 100 hours had to do with perceived abuse by guys on reserve. Depending on the ALV, a guy on reserve could have about 25 days a year of unverified sick time that he could strategically use to avoid work.

You know the ALPA lifers are dying to elect one of their own.
Someone they can control and count on to not rock the boat.

The problem is the 44 recall vote is only a couple days later and the ATL reps are clinging to office by claiming they've changed and will now represent the best interests of their pilots instead of the best interests of ALPA.

If they vote yet another cookie cutter "career ALPA" guy onto the negotiating committee it will be pretty hard to argue that they've seen the light and are open to reform.

I hate to say it. But we need to start fresh. Sometimes a reset is necessary.

I think DPA is the answer moving forward. I know, I know, I just changed my mind. It seems like DALPA is littered with so much corruption that a complete overhaul is needed. IMO.

I think with sick leave they wanted to hammer those calling in sick on a routine and predictable basis but always had a doctors note that they couldn't get around.

AND..... if that keeps the average Joe a little nervous about calling in sick and they fly with something they might have called in sick for before, because pilots are soft union pansies unlike office workers who gut it out with the walking flu, then all the better.

Just **** the dude for flying sick of he gets caught.

Ron Hay is running too.... but I'm sure you think that's a great idea right?

Question... who has done more ALPA work: Hay or Uvena?

How about Heiko vs Uvena?

Two more entrenched bureaucrats sucking on the ALPA tit way longer than Uvena.

So you're right, how do we get rid of these jokers? I say you run! With all the hours you spend on here, doing ALPA work would be like getting half your life back since you paint this picture of every one doing nothing... and you are all about the Q-O-L.

Ron was most recently an LEC VC, correct? Not on full-time FPL.

You sound a little spastic. Is your trip on the gravy train about to terminate?

Hang in there. The line isn't so bad.

As funny as this is, anyone who complains about the current administration's incompetence and doesn't attempt to run doesn't have any basis for complaints.
