As a UAL Bubba (not the IAH kind...) I'm pulling hard for you guys; even more so than normal with our snap up.
I find this a curious thing, this negotiating in public. I thought it was very strange when the union made public your "opener", or was that just an accidental leak? Either way, I'm not used to seeing a public back and forth of positions posted for the world to see. Is this a new strategy, or something that has been status quo at DAL?
Seriously not trying to pick a fight, I just hadn't seen this method before so didn't know if this was standard practice.
Either way, knock it out of the park!!! You guys/gals deserve it with the operation you have over there

It's not the normal way, but with what happened this last summer, our pilot group is demanding transparency and communication from the union and soon to be new Reps. This is the result. Not saying it's good or bad, that has yet to be determined. I don't think it's going to continue with each and every negotiation meeting. I think when the NMB gets involved in March, we will see more "old school."

True, but the path they are taking has its own set of risks.
When the "help" sees that we make many times their pay, they might just think that's what a union does for you and be inclined to organize.
DALPA could easily "out" the senior leaders with just a minimal amount of effort. A billboard close to the parking lot that says that RA makes about $55,000 a day (last number I saw was he made 20M/yr) could have a chilling effect and maybe stop this public airing of our private issues...

As a non-contract employee at Delta I actually have to agree with you. While it would be nice to have the support of DALPA in trying to organize...you can't really help us if we can't help ourselves. Besides, too many flight attendants are too worried about who they're going to meet off of Grindr on their layover, how much popcorn the company puts in the lounge, or how many scarfs they're going to buy at the market in IST. I'd say 60-70% of flight attendants actually think they're getting a 14.5% raise. And 90% don't know how much of a difference the change to the PS formula has.

So Management puts out their response to our proposal with a slick bar graph showing our total yearly compensation (the average pilot at Delta) and makes it available for all to see on DeltaNet
Only problem - It is a lie
Now lets correct that lie and make our reserve guarantee 85hrs. After all their numbers are based on 85hrs per month

You miss the point. Nobody but a few people on this board get into those details. The company posted this giant graphic which 99.99% of all noncon employees will view and think to themselves "pilots all make $200k+ and are still complaining". The truth and details are not important, the perception that we are a greedy work group is their aim.
Im not concerned about these games they play because its expected. The problem of an FA union drive will resurface with the next round of profit sharing in 2017, and the company will have to decide if they want to keep throwing money at them, and trigger our 3b4. The noncons already know how much money we make and most of them who actually understand what we do and how long it took us to get here dont view us as overpaid.
