Default MSP AE thoughts

Just trying to get a feel from the rest of the group about the MSP pilot base. I see that once again, the MSP base didn't get much love. MSP is becoming one of the more senior bases.

Even though MSP didn't get too many positions on this AE, I'm hoping that some of the growth in other bases may persuade pilots commuting to the MSP base to bid LAX or SEA - specifically the pilots living in Texas and Colorado. Thoughts?

The movement in MSP has been glacial and I expect to to stay that way. I think the only thing that would really get things moving is a widebody base there and that seems unlikely.

I think many commuters would have to make a two leg commute (possibly offline as well) to go to another base...at least that would be the case for me and I'm not going to do that.

There was the hint of a possible 73N base in MSP. One can hope. . . .

I talked to someone in Crew Resources about MSP when the AE came out. They said the 73N base is "likely" and that they do plan to backfill slots in MSP on this bid. So I guess will wait and see.

Are they still talking about re-opening the 330 base in MSP?

Two legs commute from DFW to SEA. Ugly. Usually had to slum with AK. AA also but they were usually full.
Don't know about LAX.

I think that has been tabled for the time being. I suppose if the company got the micro bases they wanted it could be a possibility. 330 in MSP would go very senior IMO

How they gonna bid SEA? We are completely closed out of this bid

You can bid for whatever you want (you know the "want" saying...); what gets awarded is up to the company. The AE list is simply the "known openings" that they have--if someone vacates a particular category, then the company can backfill (or not) at their discretion. So, if someone bids out of SEA on this AE, and the company elects to backfill that position, then someone with an appropriate bid in will get SEA....

I've been told that this can happen even without someone bidding out--that the company can elect to award a bid to a category that wasn't "advertised" on the AE. That seems to contradict the language of the AE construct (my read of it, anyway), but it drives home the point of "wanting what you bid...."
