Default A350 deliveries delayed one year?

Just saw an article this morning that the A350 will be delayed until 2018. Maybe that AE bid in August won't be so big. Thoughts?

Here is a link to the article

Gives the company time to convince negotiators to take concessions for the higher pay rate.

Cynical? Yes. True? Probably. Never misunderestimate (GWBism) Mgmt's decisions. This probably has everything to do with the current contract negotiation. We definitely know it's not due to financial shortfalls.

It's on the Deltanet, deferring 4 A350s.

think twice about voting for a TA that has limited wide body scope protections. They do not need our widebodies with AF/KLM Virgin china eastern! How much more clearer is the company making it for us!

It might also mean they have made no progress in negotiations with the Chinese on a Shanghai hub. The 350's were bought to replace the 747's and the rest to go to Shanghai. Buried in the announcement was the complete retirement of all MD88's over the next five years if you want to add some bad news.

So...how's our top end fleet expansion looking now. Goes to show that you can't believe management when they talk fleet growth until the jets arrive in Delta colors.

This does a couple of things for me:
- strengthens my resolve to fight for a contract I want - I fully expect it to go extra rounds and I'm ready.
- increases my threshold for a "yes" vote.

The company is making it crystal clear that outsourcing our jobs is the future while they rake in more of our hard earned dollars during their short tenures.

Maybe they're gonna keep the 74's for another year until oil climbs above $100 per barrel? Reduced cycles could push the heavy checks back far enough to keep them viable for another year, just like transferring the few 75's to NBA charters will keep them flyng beyond their original drop dead date.

Pure speculation on my part..

We cannot give up one penny of profit-sharing. The writing is on the wall. We have to think of ourselves as stakeholders rather than employees.
