And now....REG to RES....
 
You guys have been super helpful; it's hard finding people to help me fully understand the rules and this is a new situation I've encountered.

I land at 0603 on the 1st and the 2nd I go into RES. They are putting me on 30/7 starting at 0633 on the 1st and that ends at 1233 the 2nd.

I have to check my schedule 9 hours before the end of my rest period which is 0333 am the 2nd, what would be the earliest I could have something assigned? 1234 on the 2nd? Be it short call or a trip, I assume I am fully "up for grabs" the second my rest ends at 1233 on the 2nd

They cannot contact me during my rest, I know that much, so if nothing is assigned by 0333am the 2nd do I need to keep checking my schedule for an assignment during my rest or should I just recheck again after the rest period ends?

This s^&t is super confusing to me.

So here's my dilemma, I want to help but don't want to give bad advise.

Normally your first on call day you have to check your schedule after 3pm. If you are on assigned rest they can't make you do anything. Normally you have a long call and they call at midnight to put you on rest until 1000 then SC with your earliest report at 1200. In your case if you were assigned rest I wouldn't think you can be required to do anything including acknowledge a SC until that rest is over. I think they get a one time phone call to try and notify you but if you are unavailable they are SOL. If I was notified of rest I would turn off my phone until it ended. Little help, I know.

Scheduling Alert 14-05 and 14-07 might help. ALPA library under scheduling committee.

I see no reason why Delta can't make all of this WAY easier to benefit all parties involved. With the rules auditor, full access to your current/future schedules and the PWA/117, iCrew should lay answers to these questions out in a simple and easy to understand format. Very few other jobs I can think of require an employee to consult his or her working agreement as frequently as we must. When I'm on reserve, iCrew and an app on my phone should show me:

You must answer your phone between X and Y and check your schedule NLT Z. Click HERE to add a notification alarm.

You are not required to answer your phone between A and B.

You should be in a period of rest between C and D.

The earliest you may be contacted is E.

If you are not contacted prior to F, you will be released. Click HERE to add notification.

You may be legally extended as far as G.

There are H people junior to you in your bucket.

There are J people senior to you in your bucket who currently have yellow slips submitted click HERE to see the parameters they have entered)

You have the following White/Yellow/Green slips active:

(ClIck HERE to edit with a modern interface)

Open time trips meeting your parameters are these: (click to view)

...which will be assigned after the displayed time.

You are/are not the most senior pilot with a matching slip submitted.

Click HERE to text your scheduler a question or comment.

Click HERE to open a chat window with your scheduler (all chats will be recorded).

Click HERE to acknowledge and view rotation 1234, which was added to your schedule at WXYZ.

NO NEED to click HERE to make your dead head reservation SINCE THAT HAS AUTOMATICALLY BEEN DONE FOR YOU AND YOUR SEAT PREFERENCES WERE AUTOMATICALLY APPLIED; YOU ARE LISTED FOR ANY AND ALL UPGRADES. Your confirmation code for dead head on fight 1235 is ABCDEF, but you need not check in since that will be done automatically when you sign in for your rotation.

All that is entirely possible. The question is, "How much are you willing to give up for that?" Nothing Delta does for us is free, unless it benefits management in some way. What you want in no way makes life easier for the company and only benefits the pilots by making our lives easier. Ergo, the company will not spend one cent on making it happen. They will, however, try to make us buy it through PWA gives.

That would make my life much easier. As for me, I've just decided to commute home for my 30/7. I'll check my schedule occasionally during my 30 hours of rest, yellow slip a 2 day that will basically render me useless tomorrow and make my commute much more predictable and if they don't give me the YS and I get myself in a bind somehow with commuting out, I'll rent a car and drive since it's about a 4.5-5 hour drive. The things we do to be home, even if its counted in hours.

The earliest you can start LC is 1233 on 02 June, and the earliest SC would be 10 hours later (02Jun/2233).

Too late for you, sorry I didn't see this earlier. To anyone else in this situation in the future:

I had this exact situation in Feb/Mar: REG in Feb, trip ending the last day in Feb driving a 30/168 issue, RES in Mar. They tried to put me in rest effective the time of my release. I *was not* on RES at the end of my trip, I therefore did not check my schedule--earliest they could start my rest was midnight. It took a bit of round & round with crew scheds (with the backup of the MEC scheds), but a supervisor finally fixed it, started my 30 hour rest at the end of our phone call.

Of course, if you acknowledge the rest, you're on rest. Don't let them do it to you....

For another twist on the same subject. I am a line holder for July, and I have reserve for August with first few days off in August.

Question is: if I swap with the pot (in July) into a trip that spills into August, do I get those X day(s) back, or am I working on the X days only for the credit going towards reserve guarantee?

You may call scheduling and have your days moved, so you don't lose the X days. You are working for free if you do not get the days moved. There is no extra pay for a lineholder working on an X day when transitioning to reserve. To make matters worse, if it is a credit trip, you lose the credit. You only get paid block in July. The credit counts toward Aug which is res.
