Right I get that but their options were either wait at that gate and see if they would get on a flight oversold by 10+ or take a sure thing that leaves at the same time to another city.

Bump to this thread. Does anyone else have any tips or tricks to coming out of CDG? Is it better to just suck it up and pay the higher taxes and ZED out to LHR and come home from there?

A summer or two ago my wife and I were readying to return from CDG and lo and behold it was suddenly oversold due to a flight cancellation the previous day. This flooded all remaining US bound flights with the Hope Killers. ZED on other carriers to the US didn't look good. ZED to AMS and LHR didn't look good either. Ended up hopping a train to London to catch a wide open LHR-BOS in business class. The other option was train to AMS and catch a wide open flight there. Obviously taxes are much cheaper from AMS. The last minute train tickets were the real kick in the groin.

Do you know if Air France shares their loads anywhere else other than at the airport? If I can help it I'd prefer to not have to travel to LHR, but the day is looking wide open.

I'd start with travelnet, you can see some numbers there, not sure how accurate they are. Other than that you can check the myIDtravel site for a ZED and see what kind of smiley face you get. :)
