Default Bed and Breakfast near ANC?

Anyone stay at a bed and breakfast when you go to Anchorage, either for business or fun? I remember hearing that there was a good one (pilotspeak for "not too expensive") relatively near the airport. Somewhere in cost between a methlab Roach Motel and the Captain Cook in cost.

Thanks for all input, humorous or otherwise.

I use to stay at Ilana's Pilot House, phone number is 907.243.4357. She actually owns two homes, one of which she only rents (on a daily basis) to pilots. She and her husband live in the other one, where they rent out (I believe) two bedrooms. They will provide transport to and from the airport, and they use to have an extra (the red) car, which they would rent for $10 a day. They do a nice job, and she makes a wonderful breakfast, as part of the price.

I've heard Northern Lights B&B is good too.

I have stayed at both. Northern B&B is awesome. Ilonna's is great if you don't mind being harassed by an old bitter money-hungry woman. Just my 2 cents.

Roger that on Ilona's. The place needs a good cleaning, has gone down hill over the last couple of years.

Very good, guys. Thanks for the recommendations.

Thanks to the moderator for moving this to the Pilot Lounge. I just figured that the Cargo guys are more likely to layover and use a B&B than anyone else.

You may not eat the breakfast if you look in the kitchen first!

Thumbs up Gallery Lodge, ANC/ENA B&B

www.gallerylodge.com if you have more than a day and want something new that will give you the real Alaska experience. 25 min from Kenai or take a beautiful drive 3.5 hr drive from ANC and you may see a whale on the way Bob & Dot are both pilots with a new lodge that opened a few years ago right on the Kasilof River...
The kitchen is new, spotless, out in the open, and yours. Make yourself right at home on your own time frame. Food is s allways stocked and breakfast is anytime day or night on your time frame! Ask for a movie a game, or video games. You can even rent out the gallery or gigantic open theatre room. It looks like an actual cinema theatre with cool cinema decore carpeting instead of chairs. My kids like to use it for tumbling. Great for yoga or a group party. Dot is an awesome photographer and artist- just offer her a $20-50. They are so nice, some have been invited to dinner.
