There was a major slowdown a few months ago that jammed up the training department and depending on your luck and when you needed to get on the sim schedule the delay hit you hard or barely affected your footprint. I had classmates breeze thru sims in a month.... meanwhile I sat at home for an entire month (twice) due to a equipment breakdown that put me in the back of the line for the next open sim slot. Word on the street is that log jam is now around the OE stage as the early wave of holdups are now in that stage of training (at least on the 200 side) and the sims/FTD delays of the past have now cleared up.

I hope this is true; eagerly awaiting my call to begin training.

Finished LOE last week, 200 January class. Had several delays where I spent three weeks at home waiting on sim/instructor availability. As of yesterday OE on the 200 is about 3 weeks.

2/12 class on the 200
LOE was 5/14
Told to expect IOE around 6/11.

Do people who are already typed have to do the entire training footprint?

Yes, we have a FAA approved program for people with CL-65 type ratings for a shorter course but the company has not actually used it. So currently all new hires still get the full training.

Training has also found that holding a CL-65 type and be EDV proficient are not mutually exclusive. More then one person with 1-10 years CL-65 experience struggled with ground school and sims.

Training hotels

Are the hotels for training pretty nice (or most of the ones on the road for that matter)? And single or double occupancy for training?

They're fine. Name brand extended stays and if you go to PHX, a local, but OK place.

Single occupancy

Single occupancy for training. Yes they’re nice for training and mostly well located near lots of food options, including the mall of America. Additionally, the long term ones (you’ll have a few stays at them for training) have kitchenettes. Think residence inn.

On the road the hotels are all good places to get quality rest. We have a few LaQuintas or Country Inn and suites that are subpar but still acceptable, only beef most pilots have is many (maybe a half) are in more industrial / business park areas with no/limited food options besides the hotel itself. Most places will drive ya wherever you want to go within reason but it’s not the same as being able to walk.
