Training Time
How long is it taking for folks to get through the training here? I’ve heard 3 months and I’ve also heard there are some who started in November and have not made it through yet.

I know someone who started in late October and just finished IOE within the last few weeks.
It’s really a mixed bag- 3 months to 4 months is what you can expect. 5 or 6 months is very much an outlier. |

What causes the hold ups? Is it sim availability or something else?
You get a contractual 5 days off before IOE (to move/find a crash pad) and then IOE is typically about 1 1/2- 2 weeks or so, typically 2 trips... a 3 day and a 4 day or such. All in all it should take About 3 1/2 months. I’d say about 1/4 take 4 months and about 1/10 take 5+ months. Of course all of this is through casual observation from when I went through class along wirh conversations with newer guys and looking at the seniority list and who’s flying. |
AQP?
Just a quick question... Is all the training at Endeavor AQP, including upgrade? What’s Captain upgrades like over there as far as the training? How many sims do they give you etc? Just curious.

I was told by an acquaintance at 9E that new hire CRJ900 F/O's on RSV are not flying at all and many are approaching their 100 hrs in 120 day deadline. I think that can be extended to 150 days but otherwise they have to go back to the sim.

That's true. We got a ton of people through training this winter, and reserves probably won't be as busy until flying increases for the summer. It's almost strange being at a properly staffed regional airline.

Some of the hold up is because a number of guys in the Oct or Nov classes were immediately awarded CA upgrades on 17-05 and 18-01. They made us continue 900 FO training through the LOE. That combined with delays due to sims breaking and just general back log made it so we never went to OE before having to start upgrade training.
My Class date was in Nov, did 900 FO LOE in Late Feb, upgrade class in March, CA LOE about a week ago. Waiting on OE. I never had to repeat anything. All the outliers from the Oct/Nov timeframe have similar timelines. |
