Default DTW Based

I'm sure I'm not the first to ask here, but I couldn't find something close enough to my situation.

I live near DTW and have a March 2020 class date. Just a few questions:

-How long after training could expect to get DTW?
-How long are upgrade times overall, and how long would it take to get DTW as a fresh CA?
-How long should I expect reserve at DTW once there?
-Would the 900 be more likely assigned and how would this affect these times vs the 200?
-How long to get to DGI and is it any faster than off the street?

Sorry, I know it's a lot, but just trying to see what my QOL would be like. Thanks!

Realistically the first four questions don’t have a good answer because March is too far away. By then 9E will be picking up airframes from G7. It is expected that allot of this flying will be out of DTW. All that is going to change these answer by December and again by February. That having been said, if it was today:

- DTW within 6 months
- RSV 6-9 months
- CA 3+ years
- 9 vs 2 is a total craps shoot with an 18 month seat lock on either

These won’t change by March (most likely anyway)
- 18 months minimum from the day you complete CA OE
- OTS is faster if you can get the interview and get hired

So essentially when I do upgrade, I'd be sent back to New York for at least a year and a half? Or are you saying 3+ years from upgrade? Also I imagine being on reserve would be longer as a captain.

Most junior captain on property is a 4/2018 hire. Most junior award from the last vacancy is 11/2017 with a class date in January 2020. If you were hired today upgrade is 2-3 years away realistically at the earliest. Upgrade in DTW, add another 6 months.

Yes - you would be upgrading to reserve.

Again - this is today’s answer and it will be different in a month. With the additional airframes coming online, there is no good answer.

Most junior award is a January 2017 hire, not a November 2017 hire, so currently sitting at 3 years.

Let's be clear which upgrade is fastest to DTW, it's not on the 900. I'm a 12/2016 hire and I'm 40ish numbers away. But, my CA 900 ATL slot is for sale.

Keep in mind that life on reserve in dtw here is vastly different from life on reserve at OO in DTW.

I think we have somewhere around 40-50 lines of reserve for FOs across both fleets. This means you have many options of being preferred to be used a lot or a little. I.e. I opt for last out short call in base, and get used maybe 3-5 days a month. I then pick up 1-2 open time trips to bring total monthly credit to 100-110 @ 60$\hr. Plus per diem. This way I get to spend 20+ nights at home in base.

SkyWest reserve lines are around... 10? Total for DTW. Thus they get used a lot, like it or not. Their line holders also primarily are awarded 4on, 2 off schedules every month, with minimal days off, as half of their flights are on the 200, and thus less credit.

They work more for less pay, with less reserve flexibility.

So it really depends on what's important to you for QOL.

Speaking of QOL, at 8:01 on day one of indoc at OO, pilots immediately lose two points on the hot-or-not scale. If you do opt for OO, then bring a mouthguard to prevent the sudden protrusion of your front teeth from cutting into you lower lip.

You'll also need your medical certificate revised to read "must wear horn-rimmed glasses."

These are serious issues that must not be overlooked when considering OO.

there are FO's at endeavor who can't upgrade yet hired a year before our most recent dtw capt upgrades. I'm sure upgrade times will trend down as more planes come onboard but something to think about.

As for reserve, you can get a line a month or 2 after ioe in dtw at skywest. The pay rates are better at edv as are the work rules, but you'll be on capt pay, off reserve, and in the base you want at skywest a lot sooner too.
