Quote: A year and a half. CVG flying fell off a cliff after COVID.

Reasons CVG might close: it's no longer a DL base.
Reasons CVG might thrive: it's no longer a DL base.

So... speculation.
Did anyone but me watch the town hall? Haha.

JG said that cvg would stay open because we would pick up a lot of the lift out of cvg dropped by delta. That even though it's not a delta base we still will be doing a lot of the flying there and still expect a lot of "overnights" offset by the base.

I’ll believe it when I start to see actual CVG positions in vacancies. Mainline still does all the ATL flights, DEN, and most of Florida. I don’t think STL, BWI, PHL or the other flights we used to do are coming back. Many of those were on the 200 anyways and they’d have to pay for hotels for all those crews.

CVG is becoming more of a competitive market with Allegiant and Frontier having a large presence. I have a hard time believing Delta is actually making any money in CVG except for connections. O&D business travel is nonexistent now which is why all those other destinations were dropped, and I don’t think the CDG flight is coming back any time soon, if ever.

Really the only reason I see CVG remaining open is management committing the sunk cost fallacy.

Or they're confident it'll come back and they are in it for the long haul. Regardless, it didn't sound like they were in conversations to shrink or kill it. But who knows

Remember when it was “no more NYC, please send us some DTW/MSP?”
We always want what we can’t have, the more things change, the more things stay the same.

This is why pilots cannot have nice things.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

Quote: They're doing street hiring now. Have started doing interviews.
Is this confirmed? I saw they wouldn’t be starting interviewing street applicants until Mid April but everything seems to be just rumor and speculation at this point. I am eagerly awaiting a phone call as I am sure many others are, just looking for some more information.

There's a few people who posted in here a few days back that they started getting interview sections. You can scroll back and message those guys. Maybe they have more info

The grass is never greener in NYC. That place is a dump.
