The problem is legacy airlines are hiring Regional F/O's who are approaching 1000 hours. I know a PSA pilot who got the call from Delta as he was passing 900 hours. He was hired. By the time he started indoc he had upgraded at PSA and flew a couple of trips. If you put in 2 years you're losing a year's seniority at a major. The PSA pilot would have preferred AA since he lives in CLT but they wouldn't hire him outside the flow.

You cannot flow as a first officer. You must be a captain. ALSO This is big and not touched on. In order for a new hire to flow under the CAP program. Which is what all new hires will be under. All of the original flow pilots have to have the chance to flow. The last flow pilot is slated to get a flow letter in 4 years. So all the new hires that think they will flow after 24 months as a captain is not right. You will have to wait till all original flow pilots have gone or stayed. |
All these people coming just for flow make me wonder if they couldn't get hired outside flow for any major. Makes one wonder the quality of airmen coming through the doors.

Brand new CFI works two years as a captain and goes to a major airline before 30 years old. Endeavor has no problem telling recruits about flow but neglect to tell new hires the fine details of it. |

1) A flow is better than nothing at a stand-alone 3rd party carrier. Metering - official or unofficial - is a real thing. 2) Working for a wholly owned improves your odds for poaching from mainline entities other than your current mainline owner (i.e. EDV to UAL & AA, ENV to UAL & DAL, and UAX to DAL & AA) Why not try to stack the deck in your favor if you can? |

It’s all company smoke and mirrors. All the recruiting material says eligible to flow to delta in as a little as 24 months. Without knowing the real details, you would assume you flow to delta in two years. Who wouldn’t take that deal.

Now THIS is interesting. Seems to pair up nicely with the rumor that DAL is soon to be parting ways with OO. |
