Our training is quite laid back at DL and very gentlemanly. The typical pass rate is around 99%. Nothing is a wild card like at 9E in that everything is scripted. The oral (which is now all computer based) is only allowed to ask specific learning objective areas. The objective is promoting learning not a self serving checking environment.

There are a couple crazies that made it through the SSP who may have a tough time getting through probation if they don't watch it, though.

A flow isn't going to happen.

The SSP is definitely not weeding out the cray-cray. From what I've seen, it's preparation, and past employment record. The application, and interview give you a combined score that has to meet a minimum level.

Exactly, anyone can fool an interview panel for an hour. If they wanted to weed out the bad apples they aren't going about it right. Scoring lower in the point system because you took an extra year to get your degree says nothing about how enjoyable you might be in a cockpit for 8 hours.

From what I've seen, they are detecting most of the crazies, at least from the original 9E side. There will be a few that get by, of course.

I am half surprised that a flow isn't desirable because if someone is truly a safety concern or a "crazy" a flow would mean;

1. No longer PIC of Delta pax, but an SIC and

2. back on probation where they can shape up or ship out.

I don't relish good people losing their jobs, but if a pilot is a bona fide concern and basically it is just the union protecting their job, maybe being an FO on probation isn't such a bad thing. ???

There is no need for a flow, when 9E shuts down next year, they can take whomever they want to Delta.
