Default Endeavor preparing for 170's!!

Brian, DTW FO asks…
“I’m seeing a LOT of discussion about Endeavor getting E170 jets. When is this going to happen?”
Executive Response (Ryan Gumm)
Brian, we have been hearing a lot about this on our end, too. And, candidly, we’ve been working to prepare Endeavor for the day when Delta asks us to fly them. Will we be getting Embraer jets this week? No. Will we be getting them in the next few months? No. Will we eventually be an operator of Embraer jets? As Delta’s wholly-owned subsidiary, we need to position ourselves to deliver a product that aligns with Delta’s plan. So, while I can’t give you a hard date, I can confirm that as an organization, we are expeditiously preparing for the day when we are asked to operate E170/175 jets. When that day comes, we will be ready.

Per execs in recurrent first instructors currently getting typed on the 170. 170 also being added (or already added) to operating certificate. May happen sooner than we think...

So, would they come after Delta's E190's or from another regional carrier? I don't think Delta can ADD 70-76 seat jets right now or am I mistaken.

You'll note this creative response means nothing regarding when Endeavor gets E-175's. It could be a year or two or a decade. Let's face it.......as the pool of entry-level regional pilots has all but dried up to the point of handfuls here and there, salesmanship and tall claims have become the new normal, just like the Presidential candidates who talk a lot but say very little, so too has this segment of the airline industry.

All is fair (or so they disfunctionally still cling to) in business, just like love and war and so it goes. I think it's a good idea now for prospective new pilots to include a good pair of hearty boots in their career kitbag considering all the B.S. they'll have to wade through in their quest for a legacy airline pilots job.

The Endeavor management team isn't in the business of BS statements like you suggest. They shoot straight, and when they can't say something, they don't.

I think we may be gearing up for another DCI "shuffle".

I think Endeavor knows it is going to have try harder than $50K to keep attracting pilots beyond 2016. There are only so many out there. They need growth and upgrades and a better defined career path towards delta. This is great for them if it pans out. I wonder who the 175s will come from?

Maybe in your little world, but I don't think Delta would allow its owned regional to make up b.s. in hopes of hiring a few more pilots.

As others have said, the 9E management is not in the business of BS'ing. When things were bad, they were upfront about it... Just like the memo says, they are preparing for them, but it is not necessarily going to happen soon. It all depends what Daddy D wants to do. Previously, maintenance and training was gearing up for a CRJ-700 program but that has shifted now to the 170/175.

We operate at the request of the mothership.

And Donald Trump is the most conservative Christian on the ticket. Everyone in business is out to be the best regardless of the tactics. This is another carrot hanging in front of potential pilots looking for another option.
