Endeavor Vs Envoy
Depends on where you commute from and how they build the schedules. Lots of early shows and late finishes from a city with even moderate commutability can make life unpleasant. Great commuting city with good schedules is pretty bearable for the most part.
Living in base is best.
Also many envoy schedules are currently like mine. Out of the last 23 days I will have had 6 at home in 2 day off parcels. Try having a life with days off like that. As a commuter, that sucks. I sure you'll get some guys in here saying how great their schedules are, but I wouldn't say that that is currently the norm.

Why don't you just apply to Delta, United, or AA? They are all hiring. Getting picked up by one of those is pretty easy...just ask any Regional pilot. It's not like having a flow or something will be any kind of advantage. Just apply directly to the majors and skip the regionals. Done.
It's really simple and easier than you think. Don't be discouraged by the number of applicants, military pilots, LCC pilots with airbus type ratings, heavy cargo pilots from Atlas, or any of the other 12,000+ applicants the big 3 get. You are a special snow flake and will be picked up pretty much right away. Remember to update your Facebook cover photo with some really cool shot of your new 737.

*Lose, not loose.
And if you're worried about your spouse being in bed with someone else, then commuting to a job really isn't an issue, is it? There are more serious issues you need to deal with outside the job or the commute.

Being gone puts such a stretch on your relationships. Think about it. If you are home for only 20-30% of the time, think of the outcomes. You may come home to find your significant other in bed with somebody else. That is a very very real possibility. Sooooo if you have a choice, Live In Base. Besides regionals suck anyway. Dont loose your sanity for just a few years at a regional.

It is true indeed. This Mickey Mouse management team has their head stuck so far up their @sses (and Parkers @ss). It would be funny if it wasn't true. Oh well, screw em I'm out of here soon anyway I guess the flow is the one good thing to come out of this joke of an airline.

aa/wo .. Envy, better travel benefits for commuting..June 1,2016
Dear Fellow Employees,
As we shared last December, American’s employee travel program is about to become the best in the business. June 1 marks several improvements, the biggest of which is free of charge travel in any cabin.
Here’s a reminder of what June 1 will bring:
1. Premium travel will be free of charge: If the seats are open, you’ll be in them. Employees, eligible retirees and your eligible dependents (spouse, domestic partner, registered companion and kids) will enjoy Main Cabin, Business and First Class travel at no charge.
2. Pricing non-rev travel will become easier: Where there is a fee for non-rev travel (international taxes and parent and guest travel), we’re launching a new pricing tool so you can better plan.
3. JetAway gets a makeover: We’ve revamped the JetAway app to give you more information while you’re on the go. You can access a mobile boarding pass and see more information about booking codes to know who’s in line ahead of you. It looks a heck of a lot better, too.
These changes are just the beginning, and you can find out more about them on Jetnet. Several teams are working feverishly on an end-state travel system and anticipate it will be ready for primetime in early 2017. Enhancements include providing an electronic form of payment and improved mobile functionality.
Building the world’s greatest airline means creating a place where you want to work and where you want your friends to work. Travel is an essential part of working in the airline industry, and nowhere is that travel benefit better than at American.

I would take Envoy living in base in a heart beat. I commuted for 3 years. It absolutely sucked. Don't do it. And if you want to work for AA eventually since they have a base where you live, stay and flow. Put your career on autopilot while you wait and flow. Enjoy your family and life while you wait. No need to jump ship to LCCs or go corporate. Smell the roses with your personal life while at Envoy, then flow to AA and enjoy a long career there. That's what I did and have no regrets.
