What's been the longest wait to finish the sims?

That's correct, however recently all new hire classes are getting pushed straight through. Some of the July 17 new hires* have there checkrides in the coming week.

Good to hear they're catching up!

I know of March new hires that have not checked yet (no failures or rechecks). Not sure what kind of order they're using to get people through.

I'm currently sitting in the same boat as you erjemb, although I'm not at your ten-week mark.... yet. I'm just behind you at 6 weeks. You've been 10 already?

Staying in the books and studying is really hard to motivate for right now. I wish I at least knew an end date, even if they said "hey, you're scheduled for December 3rd" so I could plan my life...

I heard we've been promised three or four make-up sims before our check-rides (MV or LOE). I hope that is true because at this point, we're absolutely going to need that as a minimum, I believe.

Jamesthunder 09-01-2017 07:25 AM

I'm approaching three weeks myself.

Ten weeks here also, waiting for MV and LOE, no rechecks no failures.
I even requested to be allowed to sit in a few systems classes currently going and also on CPT's as an observer and possible training partner, to try to refresh my fading knowledge, but no answer (as ALWAYS).

If you live in the DFW area, just show up and ask the instructor. Explain your situation and I don't see why they'd say no. You might even be able to convince scheduling to arrange for a hotel there if you're not in that area. Squeaky wheel gets the grease situation.

^^^ This. As long as they are not checking, there is no problem for a ride along. Be proactive.

Just a suggestion because it has happened to me. Most of the times your responses to email will be sent to your company email instead of my standard personal email.

I understand this may or may not help. But like the guy said above just show up and ask. Good luck. I really hope we can get this type of situation fixed.

Several people who've been waiting 6 weeks were contacted by e-mail this morning and told they have 24 hours to report to Houston for their SIMs.

Would've thought Houston would be under water, or booked on hotels... but apparently not. 24 hour notice that you have a sim in a different city.

Those of us contacted were also told to expect two make-up sims, followed by the MV/LOE.

Any word from those who are sitting on the 10 week hold? Were you contacted?

Icaruss 09-04-2017 08:03 AM

I also got called, time to study!

Antoine137 09-04-2017 08:28 AM

Good luck everyone. I'm just hoping they push my probationary recurrent check back until I'm off probation. :D

You can't get off probation until you complete your probation ride.

Those gals are clueless as usual. I would make sure you have hotel before venturing there.

I would call the new schedulers inexperienced. However I agree you should verify a hotel before going. And check with the union to see if everything is all set.

Don't you need a 30 hour notice for FAR117?

I would say yes per FAR 117 but what do I know?

Icaruss 09-04-2017 05:17 PM

Are the 145 sims now equipped with the new FMS software (LPV)?

da42pilot 09-04-2017 06:01 PM

Are these training delays on the 145 or 175? Both?

Nope, and probably won't be for some time if at all.

Once you hit a year you are protected by ALPA. Your paying dues. If you don't finish your probie ride by that time your protect by the union. That's why you do it at 10 months and not a year. Once you are protected by the union you are off probation because they can't fire you for any reason.

It's much more difficult to let someone go with Union backing. I am sure about that.

You should ask a famous NY union rep that got canned by the company or better yet, the one that supposedly abused FMLA.

Things that will get you fired:

Walking off an aircraft at an outstation with a full load of passengers, announcing to the passengers as you walk off that paycomp messed up your pay so you aren't working.

Things that WILL NOT get you fired:

Urinating naked in a hotel's potted plants

Streaking

Putting your foot in the FA's hotel door as she slams it shut in your face

Getting into a bar fight

Getting into a street fight

Getting into a fight with the Uber driver

Chucking a beer bottle into a crowd "to see what will happen"

Chucking a fire extinguisher into the hotel pool

Drunkingly asking the front desk girl at the hotel out on a date..at 4am...when you have a 10am van.

Rumor has it that getting caught procreating in the woods behind a Waffle House wearing nothing but New Balance sneakers will also not get you fired. But I wouldn't know anything about that.

All of your posts are hilarious. I have no idea who you are, but I hope we get to fly together some day. Where's that laughing with tears emoji?

Moral of the story:

As long as the passengers don't know,
You're good to flow!

So who else is waiting to go back to Sims? I'll have been out for 5 weeks this Wednesday.

DanRoman 09-10-2017 05:12 PM

Does anyone know how they prioritize sim time? They seem to be getting people through 145 recurrent and it looks like 145 NH's are pretty backlogged. I'm gonna need sim time soon and I'm just trying to gauge how long until they'll get me in.

Study for the next 2 days, then go on another vacation for 5days. Some beach somewhere, maybe even Hawaii. Trip to a National Park, or go hunting... ENVOY your time off.

I'm not in training, I'm an active pilot who's been away for 6 months.

A call to the training department would be a vastly better way to get an answer.
