Default Commuting hotels and aircraft assignment.

If commuting to a base to sit reserve or fly a trip, does using a night of the 4 authorized hotels by contract count against your pay? Does it cost pilot anything as in is paycheck docked X amount of $ per night used?
When commuting is it Space available, stand by, or something else?

Also I assume you won't know which aircraft you are assigned until you get to the school house. Is that correct or can you negotiate into contract which airframe you are typed in?

No, commuter hotels are completely free. No, you can't get assigned the 175 prior to showing up to training. You will pick equipment based on your age first day of clsss.

I'm SoFla based. Mia only has e145's. What other. Bases have them? LGA? And is that still a junior base?

All 4 bases have the 145. If you want MIA, you need to bid the 145. Mia officially opens Sept. 1, so it's hard to say how senior/junior it will be, but I would find it hard to believe it would take you more than a few months to get it if you don't get it in class. Just bid the 145 and you're in good shape. You should be able to get the 145 no matter how young you are.

When you are commuting, you'll be using D2 standby. Also, you get 6 D1s a year, which puts you above D2s - personally I NEVER use D1s for commuting, only for vacation travel. If space is available, you'll get a seat - otherwise you get the jumpseat if it's available.

Any class I would be 30yrs old. 2k TT 17,00 PIC with PIC jet time. I know that crap don't matter but my goal is MIA asap. How backed up are training classes? I heard it's quite a while. Republic can get me to the schoolhouse by mid September.

Also, how long will the MIA base last? I know it's anyone's guess but is it seasonal or new permanent base?

GymPilot - While Republic may be able to get you in school faster, their MIA base is showing a 1/17/2017 hire date, hence at least a 7-8 mo delay.

I just learned that Republic "may be" having some issues meeting on time performance numbers in their MIA base, so the flying "may" go back to Envoy.

I live in FLL and start class at RAH on the 5th of Sept. I prefer MIA as my base yet I may have to do some time in the LGA / EWR area before bidding back south.

It seems that things are in a flux all over, and I'm an older guy so I may be able to bid MIA in GS and get it. I may be on reserve longer, yet a :30 min drive to work beats a 3 hour commute up North.

I'm in the same boat, 30m from MIA. So RA "may" be backing out of MIA? That the word at the school house or online rumor? I'm ok with a NY base to start and a standing bid for MIA as well.

Our VP of Flight Ops has said that next year Envoy will be adding additional aircraft to MIA and growing it. Republic will in turn shift some of their MIA flying elsewhere. Republic won't be leaving MIA altogether anytime soon, but I would expect going forward to see more and more of Envoy growing in MIA and Republic shifting flying other places.
