Teleconference Notes

Anyone want to provide the highlights? Play by play? I would but I'm currently playing Marco Polo with a girl who goes by the name "Molly Mouse".

Much thanks..

Flowthrough update: only expect 25 in the 88 pilot November class, and expect that to continue in the future (except December because there is no class).

Jersdawg 10-04-2017 05:17 PM

Endeavor TA is causing the union to review all of their dealings with the company, to make sure they are in line with the industry standard. Very vague, but it will be "all hands on deck" over the next few days.

Jersdawg 10-04-2017 05:28 PM

They're emphasizing to bid where you want to be on this bid, and make sure to fill out your displacements as well. Proffers to displace are key and don't incur a training freeze or seat lock.

The union doesn't know how far it may possibly go up the list in reverse order because they don't have every pilot's flight time, but their back of the napkin is that it is possible it could go up to two years of seniority.

Jersdawg 10-04-2017 05:35 PM

Next vacancy will be in January, I know some were asking about that on another thread.

HardLemonade 10-04-2017 05:41 PM

You da man, dawg. I just broke down and dialed in...let the games begin!

HardLemonade 10-04-2017 05:43 PM

This current kid on the line is sitting on the toilet taking a deuce. I guarantee it.

Jersdawg 10-04-2017 05:52 PM

A lot of the bidding info is very convoluted and I'm having a hard time keeping up. My best advice is to email the union - your reps or [email protected] if you have bidding questions.

Onto the reserve info...

Jersdawg 10-04-2017 05:55 PM

Biggest complaints for current reserve - default 4am rap, proffering awards very late for east coast commuters, inverse seniority awarding of trips, confirming trips.

This is what the union noticed the most in talking to pilots, and what they pursued.

Union wants us to ask, "are we going in the right direction?" regarding the reserve TA. They have the position that they will be back at the negotiating table especially in light of the endeavor TA. So do we want to live under current reserve in the meantime or what they have developed in the TA?

DilsonWic 10-04-2017 05:59 PM

Hard to believe JM wasn’t at the top of the list. Or 4am RAPs turning into S2/3. Or a one day trip turning into a 5. Or sitting S3 on your last day knowing any call after 6pm is a JM. Shall I go on?

DilsonWic 10-04-2017 06:01 PM

Basically they need to properly staff the airline. Any fix won’t be worth it unless we have the man power.

Jersdawg 10-04-2017 06:05 PM

Reason for deletion of turnback language - it's basically worthless due to staffing and the fact pilots are often turned back for all five days almost right off the bat. It was traded for the 2pm on day 5 language.

Mgmt view on the 2pm end is "that's what the contract says". Can they still JR man? Yes. Union told company flat out there is a trust issue.

On a 12 day off rsv line you WILL get a RTD if JR manned into a day off.

Wait they are taking out the multiple turn backs restriction? That sounds like an instant no for me. It's not worthless at all! That's not mentioned in the bullet points.

Jersdawg 10-04-2017 06:11 PM

Locals hated five days of reserve which resulted in the four day rsv line creation.

First call/last call developed to help with seniority if one wants to fly or not fly instead of straight inverse order. Two bites at the apple to change status to give better flexibility. CMF pilots have a semi-trip choosing ability. CML pilots no.

DilsonWic 10-04-2017 06:14 PM

The CMF/L is crap. Most the time there’s only 1/2 people to call anyway.

It was traded for finishing no later than 2pm on your last day. And max 4 day RSV blocks I believe.

Jersdawg 10-04-2017 06:16 PM

Now low time FO hours.....it is to keep the upgrade gravy train rolling. Their thought process is to make a better case for less restricted flow. Get the FOs the time, get them in the left seat, keep us staffed on captains. From what I understand, they will displace line holding FOs who will be off and not subject to reassignment to get FOs flight time.

They don't want to do this whole hog since they lose a rsv and a line pilot so they want the ability to bypass FOs on reserve with over 20 hours for the month. A bypassed pilot will get hotels for each night he is bypassed that will not count against commuter hotels. I'm not quite following what they're talking about regarding preferring in regards to this.

Jersdawg 10-04-2017 06:20 PM

Home study will be paid over guarantee.

Golden PVDs seem to be a little messy right now. It is unclear how many etc. With the golden, the union wants to ask us what do we have to lose? Their point is regular PVDs are a PITA to even get but at least with the two we can not have to beg borrow and steal to get them to approve one. Language is still pending and the days will be seat and equipment dependent.

Jersdawg 10-04-2017 06:23 PM

They are emphasizing to PLEASE contact your reps etc.

The proffering window is now going to be participation dependent. If the pilot chooses to participate, proffer, and are awarded, the pilot is confirmed. If another trip is assigned and the pilot does not want it and does not confirm, it defaults to the earliest legal rap.

Jersdawg 10-04-2017 06:27 PM

The union's position is this is not a swing for the fences. It is a single to get us on base and then in the near future to really work on the major infrastructure of rsv. They believe we will be set back if this is not passed.

Questions time

Jersdawg 10-04-2017 06:35 PM

Ok good question not related to TA about releasing a 4am rap into rest - what should we do? The company knows it's an issue. Union is addressing it with the company. They are not saying whether or not a pilot should fatigue.

Jersdawg 10-04-2017 06:37 PM

Will Call Me First pilot be assigned standby over and over if that is what's opening up? No, it will most likely stay status quo, it will go to the junior guy.

moon 10-04-2017 06:39 PM

Where do I put my no stamp down on this? I'm not going to want to be continually turned back while there are 2 pilots stuck on reserve. Company gains so much in this LOA while we get what 2 PM rap. CMF CML is great but if we are tossing out 12.E.1 because it's useless in bad staffing, then so will this CMF CML stuff. And we are just giving away Low Time FO stuff. This sounds like the company knows how to use leverage and the union doesn't.

But what do you have to lose. Right?

Jersdawg 10-04-2017 06:46 PM

They believe the proffering = confirming in the TA should result in more 10am raps. Right now they say the company would rather have mostly 4am raps and pull stuff like putting pilots into rest.

Haha the last guy "how do we recall ryan?"

Jersdawg 10-04-2017 06:50 PM

Charlie Bucket on the phone. When will the TA be effective? Four months after signing.

Bigpimppilot 10-04-2017 06:54 PM

Welcome to your new captain.

Bigpimppilot 10-04-2017 07:05 PM

The company knows what they have offered is short of endeavor. The question is what soft pay and efficiencies can they grab now.

babs 10-04-2017 07:07 PM

It all seems like a rush job. Very poorly written with the mentality of we'll figure out the language later. It has a couple good things, but it leaves a lot to be desired.

Jersdawg 10-04-2017 07:09 PM

Union is taking it on the chin big time on these questions now. Some pretty angry callers.

Bigpimppilot 10-04-2017 07:11 PM

Reminder: the company only flowed 25 guys a month when we had part time/low time lines.

The only reason why more were flowing with the 824 was because American was hiring so much and our 824 flow guy had to be in the same class as the 1648 new hire. 25 a month is all we can ever expect because that’s how the language reads. This loa doesn’t read well at all.

use2fly 10-04-2017 07:18 PM

Who's the drunk on the phone?

Bigpimppilot 10-04-2017 07:44 PM

I think they dropped the Chicago captains call that called them out before
