Bonus and FO take home pay?

I'm considering making the jump from a corporate pilot to Envoy, but I would have to take a decent pay cut to do so. Just trying to figure out if financially I can make it work.
Can any new FO hires tell me what their net pay on your signing bonus (either $15,000 for E175 or $22,100 for legacy) was and what their take home is on their first few paychecks (monthly)?

Depends where your residence is
First chunk of sign on is 13.5 in FL but like 8.8 in NYC.
Schoolhouse paychecks aren't horrible, like 1500 before deductions
Guestimated first reserve paychecks are in the 800ish ballpark after deductions

I got like 13.7 from the first payment living in NM. Reserve paychecks average around $1k a piece. And that's with very little flying.

I live in TX so luckily no State income tax. I thought you got paid normal monthly guarantees in training and reserve ($38 for 75 hrs), is that not true?

Are you 145 or E175?

YeOleLipStrip 03-16-2018 05:03 PM

Every two weeks during training I take away about $1,300 after taxes. From the $17K signing bonus (175er) I took away about $9k, but I was also a cadet so I took some bonuses while I was still instructing.

145, but the initial payment is the same across all fleets. Only difference is that the 175 doesn't get the second pay out

What kind of corporate? You may qualify for the High Value Bonus if you have 91K PIC or 135 turbojet PIC or 135 more than 10 pax PIC.

EMB 145 Sign On Bonus + Legacy Bonus

Indiana Taxes Single/No Dependents

Sign on: 17,100 / 10,950 After Taxes

Legacy: 5,000 / 3,180 After Taxes

First Training Check: 1,800 / 1500 After Taxes /w 500 per diem included, no deductions

Second Training Check: 1,620 / 1,350 After Taxes /w 415 per diem included, no deductions

Third Training Check: 1,625 / 1,210 After Taxes /w 415 per diem included, health insurance 65 deduction

After training there is a transition to reserve pay that results in lower pay for a month or so (I don't know the details I just work here) so I'll skip to my first "regular" reserve checks.

Third? Reserve Check: 1,420 / 950 After Taxes /w 0 per diem included, health insurance/401K 170 deduction

Fourth? Reserve Check: 1,600 / 1,100 After Taxes /w 170 per diem included, health insurance/401K 170 deduction

Each quarter or so you also get a performance bonus, they're somewhere around 200 each time.

W2 said ~58,000 taxable for the first year

Hope this helps! (and hold onto that sign on bonus)

Just regular 91 unfortunately, so no High Value Bonus.

Thank you! That's extremely helpful! Just one more question- when you say check I assume envoy pays every two weeks? So for instance your third and fourth reserve check are a monthly total of about $2150/ net pay (not including per diem)? Same with training or were those checks just monthly?

Skip0927 03-16-2018 06:23 PM

15th & 30th of every month

As Skip above said, each paycheck is bi-monthly. At Envoy per diem and overtime are only added to the end of the month check, so the mid month check is pretty much always half of your monthly reserve (minus any time lost due to dropping/trading lower time trips below your 72 hours). Of course this doesn't happen much on reserve. I believe per diem was added to both checks during training though.

Negative. We used to get paid 24/7 per diem and 75 hours as new hires in training. That got slashed in one of our concessionary contracts a few years ago. 64 hours of pay per month and 16 hours of per diem per day as a new hire in training until you complete IOE.

That has been in the contact for a long time. It was not a recent change.

BK contract, no?

Nope, that’s been in the contract since before 2006. Probably from the 1998(could be wrong on the year) contract of even before that.

Skip0927 03-17-2018 05:01 AM

Well it was after 07.

I was a NOV 07 hire and it was 75 & 24 then.

Same here. I remember it being 75 & 24 when I was new and took a hit in pay once on rsv from losing the 24/7 per diem. I could've sworn it changed in the BK.

Bigpimppilot 03-17-2018 07:59 AM

I do believe it was in the first round of bk cuts

I was a 2006 hire and it was 64 hours pay with 16 hours per diem back then.

You mean semi-monthly. Unless you get paid once every other month.

jshoneycutt 03-18-2018 09:11 AM

in training we are paid "current." After training our min guarantee is "current," and everything else is arrears on last day of following month.

I finished IOE with one week left in January. January 31 paycheck still paid training rates for full second half of January. Feb 15 pay check subtracted the week of training per diem I did not earn on the January 31 paycheck. That week's reserve per diem was paid on the Feb 28 paycheck. So Feb 15 was not only the small pay check, it was $230 short. They take a month to figure out how much they owe us, and a half month to figure out how much we own them. Goobers
