Bonus and FO take home pay?
I'm considering making the jump from a corporate pilot to Envoy, but I would have to take a decent pay cut to do so. Just trying to figure out if financially I can make it work.
Can any new FO hires tell me what their net pay on your signing bonus (either $15,000 for E175 or $22,100 for legacy) was and what their take home is on their first few paychecks (monthly)? |
Depends where your residence is
First chunk of sign on is 13.5 in FL but like 8.8 in NYC. Schoolhouse paychecks aren't horrible, like 1500 before deductions Guestimated first reserve paychecks are in the 800ish ballpark after deductions |
I got like 13.7 from the first payment living in NM. Reserve paychecks average around $1k a piece. And that's with very little flying.

Every two weeks during training I take away about $1,300 after taxes. From the $17K signing bonus (175er) I took away about $9k, but I was also a cadet so I took some bonuses while I was still instructing.

Thank you! That's extremely helpful! Just one more question- when you say check I assume envoy pays every two weeks? So for instance your third and fourth reserve check are a monthly total of about $2150/ net pay (not including per diem)? Same with training or were those checks just monthly?

I live in TX so luckily no State income tax. I thought you got paid normal monthly guarantees in training and reserve ($38 for 75 hrs), is that not true?

Negative. We used to get paid 24/7 per diem and 75 hours as new hires in training. That got slashed in one of our concessionary contracts a few years ago. 64 hours of pay per month and 16 hours of per diem per day as a new hire in training until you complete IOE.

That has been in the contact for a long time. It was not a recent change.

As Skip above said, each paycheck is bi-monthly.

in training we are paid "current." After training our min guarantee is "current," and everything else is arrears on last day of following month.
I finished IOE with one week left in January. January 31 paycheck still paid training rates for full second half of January. Feb 15 pay check subtracted the week of training per diem I did not earn on the January 31 paycheck. That week's reserve per diem was paid on the Feb 28 paycheck. So Feb 15 was not only the small pay check, it was $230 short. They take a month to figure out how much they owe us, and a half month to figure out how much we own them. Goobers |
