Utterly hilarious considering you'll look like you stepped off the set of a Cialis commercial if you show up in that button down cardigan.

Just ordered the Cali as well.

Clarification on sweater, please. Does it need to be worn with the jacket, or can it be worn as a stand-alone garment during the winter uniform season?

Either or. Do whatever you want.

So when you say “do whatever you want” and wear it as a stand alone, it’s a little more obvious you have nothing else on than if you are wearing the flasher trench coat.

Just saying...

It's snowing in Chicago now, just wear the badass Twinhill trench.

Gott mit uns.

bourbon scamp 11-10-2018 06:16 AM

Sweater instead of jacket. Also the M&H coat is far superior to the Twinhill.

Which coat would that be?
Most definitely not the wool coat vs TH all-wx.

bourbon scamp 11-10-2018 07:25 AM

Not sure which ones which now but the M&H short wool coat is a good fit. I only have the TH trench to compare it to.

Exactly... No room for even a random bulge. They should know, life is hard at times.

Well, M&H should have said in its description “designed for that millennial, you know, the ones who can’t have kids.”

The sweater as a stand alone is seriously one of the best thing about our uniforms. It’s just fine all winter long. Flew with a ca, or 2, or 3 who over the past two winters have worn a random white collared shirt, or none cuz it can be zipped up to the top... Plus no need to wear bar under bars. The new one might not allow the zip-up all the way to the neck.

bourbon scamp 11-16-2018 06:51 AM

The California sweater fits great. Note no eyelets for your wings tho’....

I wouldn't wear the wings on the sweater anyways, just another thing for your seatbelt to snag on. One for the shirt, the other for the suit jacket.

Do many guys still wear the leather jacket or is that going out of style?

Basically only see it on the older senior guys that have been around a long time. For the newer upgraded Captains, it doesn't make as much sense given that the flow rate and hiring outside of it are expected to stay steady. We are the only airline I am aware of that allows it and if you flow to AA you won't be able to use it anymore.

So, I am seeing it less and less, more usage flying through DFW lol.

Reviving this thread to ask if anybody knows if we are still able to get a sweater. Don't see anything on M&H but have seen people wearing them. Much prefer the look and feel of it compared to the jacket.

M&H just started offering a zip up sweater. L and XL are backordered till December though looks like. Some debate on the mainline forum as for whether it is just like the crew outfitters one

Many people just wear the basic black crew sweater with epaulettes. They cheaper, and warmer.

Is this approved at Envoy ? if not, has anyone complained about it or reported someone to uniform police?

big AA does not officially endorse the crew sweater as an outermost garment

They don’t endorse Haggar slacks but somehow people wear them :)

No, it's not, but half of what people are wearing isn't "approved". As long as you look professional, you should be fine. Variations on uniform pieces like A Cut Above are so close, its hard to tell. The only place I'd say it's even a remote possibility of an issue is in Chicago. There's a particular person that gets his kicks off of looking for uniform infractions. There's also one or two grumpy old bastards that have anointed themselves as uniform Gestapo, but you'll likely never encounter them. There are very few pilots that wear ONLY M&H items.

Yes, this ^^^.

During mandatory Blazer Season the ORD CP seems to put out an HI6 message every month or so admonishing folks to only wear M&H kit.

And yup, the *only* person that has given me in-person grief about wearing a sweater was an ORD union rep. SMH

What about cowboy boots? Still new here and looking for shoes. I see boots are approved in the FOM but have heard certain people are anti-cowboy boots. Found a pair of Chelsea Tecovas I like but they’re leather bottomed and I’d rather not slip and die in the terminal. Found some rubber soled Tecovas I like but they’re cowboy boots, and I’d rather not rub someone the wrong way while I’m still on probation haha

A LOT of guys wear cowboy boots, myself included. As long as they are the pilot boots, or look like dress shoes on the bottom, you'll be just fine. Now you show up with wild stitching or some sort of nonsense, you probably won't be.

Sweet! Yeah, just plain black. Ended up getting the Tecovas but I’m probably gonna get a pair of Ariat or Justin ropers too so I don’t ruin em with deicing fluid and what not this winter
