Proffering to displace vs displacement

Guys the union just sent out an email hours away from closing the bid and even I didn't know the information they put out. Nor has anyone else said anything about it.

Summary.

Proffer to displace - ONlY allows you to go to an OPEN vacancy that the junior pilot you are volunteering to take their place could hold.

Displacement - No surprise here that you can hold what ever seat you can hold.

My biggest annoyance with out union continues to wait until hours before the close of the bid to put out really useful information.

The email also suggests how to use the contract to optimize pay.

Yep. And the first paragraph on optimizing pay gave me a surprise. Apparently you can only voluntarily seat lock for extra pay if you're force upgraded to different equipment. I guess I'll be headed to the 175.

“You must displace into different equipment“ contradicts what the union put out 21 July 18 on their contract compliance email/PDF which stated “If you were 15.G.4’d to a CA status or a current CA displaced from one aircraft to another (still in the left seat) – you are eligible to request a freeze and receive the resulting 5 hours of extra pay each month.”. Showing that an FO displaced to CA (I.e. NFE to NCE) is eligible to volunteer for the training freeze.

That's how I understood it and it makes more sense than the latest email. Perhaps it's just poorly worded.

Yeah. You don’t have to displace into a different aircraft to be eligible for the training freeze. If you are an FO 15.G.4’d to a CA slot, in the same equipment, you are eligible to volunteer for the training freeze.

Can I proffer to displace to Ca on the E175? Im really annoyed by this pos jungle jet.

If you have no 3P’s, only 3D’s or nothing at all, on your 3*, and you get displaced, you’re eligible for the vol. freeze (so long as you send in the request within 14 days of the award).

Say there’s enough 3P’s, or junior 3D’s, and you don’t get displaced. Then you can proffer to displace (using your seniority if same equipment or the junior pilot seniority of the pilot who would’ve been displaced. So whatever that pilot can hold, you can get.)

So if that pilots seniority is 2000, and the most junior 175 displaced pilot was 1900, then you wouldn’t be awarded the 175. (Someone chime in if this is incorrect)

You can still vol. for the training freeze if you’re awarded a different status due to the proffer to displace. You just won’t get company paid moving expenses.

If you’re a 145 or CRJ pilot and really want the 175, safest bet is to just 3P.

This is correct. The union’s email on that topic was slightly incorrect.
Once displaced to a CA seat you are eligible to volunteer for a Training Freeze and that pays you an extra 5 hours/month for the duration of the seat lock.

Can you remind me/us how to volunteer for that after this vacancy runs? I'd obviously hate to leave 120 hrs of pay on the table.

You have 14 days from the date of the final award to volunteer for a training freeze. Send an “RF 1 VOL” to volunteer for the training freeze.
