Are we ever going to get pay raises?
Seems like such a long shot. Thoughts?

As long as classes are getting filled, no.

Classes are being filled so why should they? There’s no incentive for AAG to do so.
The key to getting a raise lies with Piedmont. They are actually shrinking from attrition, Captain upgrade classes are being delayed and the mess that they created is growing. That is the best hope for the wholly owned carriers to see a raise. |

No, they made the right call by holding off on raises when everyone else was getting them. Applicants are responding to the perception that regional scene is improving and totally unprecedented numbers of new commercial pilots are being minted every year at big pilot mills like ATP, Riddle and UND. These people live w/ their parents, have no expenses, and would compete aggressively to fly for FREE at Envoy if they get to take selfies in the 175 and get a 10 year flow date. Welcome to the pilot glut.

But generally speaking I no longer believe there was/is a pilot shortage. There was a temporary squeeze around 2016. And some airlines threw money at the squeeze while others got creative with RTP and pipeline cadet programs etc which have been and are starting to pay off. I think the future challenge will be keeping up with having enough qualified Captains to staff your flying. You can hire an FO, but nothing changes the fact that it takes roughly 2-2.5 years to get them the qualifications to legally become a 121 Captain. Within about 3 years the sucking sound coming from the legacy airlines draining the pool dry of qualified regional CA candidates will be hard to ignore. |

So true...... Pilots are their worse enemy. If only we will hold off from accepting a class here, they would have to increase the pay. SHORT TERM PAIN FOR LONG TERM GAIN. |

Raises are coming soon, probably right about the time the LAX base is opening up, which according to the FA I flew with today, is right around the corner. Too bad for me though because apparently it’s only going to be a 175 base :(
Glad she already knows the equipment in the non-existent base though, that must mean it’s that much more likely right? On a side note, did anyone else notice that the flow grievance loa we passes a while back completely concedes any future grievances on anything other than the bare minimum for the next two groups? Glad we gave that up. I’m sure the company will scratch our backs any day now with more money. Oh wait, they are decreasing profit sharing? Nvmd. Guess I’ll just keep being optimistic for no reason and wasting my life commenting on threads about how the company is probably going to improve my life out of the goodness of its heart. Corporations are people too you know... |
If flow is the carrot, guess who the donkey is?

Thought so. I also voted no during the bankruptcy contracts willing and able to deal with the Comair threats that were facing us if it happened. So yes I did lead by example. |

What's the carrot over your way?
How long did it take you to get a line in your preferred base? |

My bidding seniority goes up 6-7% per month, as an FO I spent less than a full month on reserve before getting a line, I’m blocking ~81 hours a month, and I should be upgrading at about 15 months, while living in the base I wanted. First year I got a $17.5K bonus and the pay - while not industry leading - is pretty good.

Yeah dude said he is a Compass pilot in an XJT thread. So I don't even know why he is in here spouting off. Even if some of our FOs had this scenario all that movement and bonus stops in the move to the left seat. If you start at 0 121 hours and upgrade in 15 mo ths you are going to be on reserve for quite a long while, probably not in the base of your choice.

Excargodog, I am not sure if you meant to reply to me in a private message but usually if you want to send a PM at least reply and quote what I wrote and not what pitch wrote. Enjoy SEA.
