Doug Parkers entire flow scheme was designed to limit costs. There is no other reason. The current flow system is a management creation, APA had no say in the matter. The company already had all the scope relief they needed so there was nothing to negotiate, American simply instituted the program.

As negotiations go on the standard reply from management is that they don't need to increase wages at the regional level, our pilots have the "flow to mainline." This is Doug's way of heading off a bidding war for talent at the lower level of the industry, the regional new hire.

From the posts, it doesn't seem to be working as well as planned but then again neither does AA's performance on many other metrics, vis-a-vie United and Delta.

Hopefully the big guy will be out one of these days when the share holders get tired of taking it in the shorts.

I may be off, but I could have sworn Tony was gone by the time USAir bought AA (sorry... “merged”). I remember Sam Pool being MEC Chair during the bankruptcy.

I may be off. We’ve been kicked in the head so many times by Parker it all gets a little fuzzy.

This is a completely inaccurate history of the flow program

Already American?

I don’t fool myself, I know I’m flying at the behest of big brother. As far as friends, depends how wide the circle is of those who know I fly. Immediate family knows I’m Envoy with AA benefits. The wider it gets, the more diluted it gets.... Eagle, American... doesn’t matter how often I correct them. The line blurs. Met a friend of mine while deadheading on a 73. He knows I’m Eagle. Told him I was going to pickup my plane. Next time we all got together, he relived the story of meeting me in the back of the jet I fly and how I could save the day if the pilots got incapacitated. Is what it is.

These weren’t the replies the OP was looking for. He loves to troll the Envoy forum. He was hoping you would all say you were AA, so he could correct you, and remind everyone that he is supposedly at a Delta now.

I've never told anyone I work for American. I have noticed, though, that non-aviation people that know me and have heard me explain the difference will continually refer to me as 'working for American'. Apparently the distinction only matters to me. Hell, even my wife struggles with it apparently because she never refers to either Envoy or American.... she just says I work for "the airlines". Plural like that... as if I worked for ALL airlines. lol
