NYC

So...why hasn’t there been an announcement on nyc. I think the writing is on the wall, the more the union and company don’t communicate to the pilot group, the more the morale will go down. Just be honest.

TexAg11 07-28-2020 11:35 AM

I haven’t been on property long enough to see a base closure. Any idea as to what comes with that for LGA guys who are forced to another base. I know they’ve done unlimited hotels and little things like that, but in this Covid climate who knows. I decided on this last displacement I’m better off riding down the NYC ship than being proactive and grabbin ORD 175 etc. But I agree, if they know it’s coming the sooner we know the better. Maybe not better for mgmt though 🤷🏻‍♂️

But seriously 07-28-2020 12:14 PM

I don’t see why they’d bother with a TDY. They were over staffed everywhere BEFORE the big AUG schedule cuts. If they’re going to be paying 40-50 pilots to just sit around, why would they bother paying for their hotel rooms too.

On the other hand, I wouldn’t put it past management to actually spend money just to screw over pilots.

MqWhistleblower 07-28-2020 01:25 PM

The company is probably not talking to our union. What a big surprise to see management stalling us. I didn’t see that one coming.

shinydiscoballs 07-28-2020 03:34 PM

Honestly management is not that bad here, it's the union that puts a knot on everything good. ALPA does jack sh:(t for the regionals.

Whoa! Easy there buddy. That Koolaid you drinking is extra strong.

Laminar 07-28-2020 07:28 PM

Management is horrible. Whens the last time you heard from Pedro? Hahaha what a joke!

Does anyone really believe Envoy management has any agency whatsoever? Pedro can't close NY. Pedro is a seat filler, and the AA playboys who are supposed to be making the call are probably riding out the plague on Maui or something.

There may be some hope, but I doubt NYC comes back at all, and in the unlikely event it does it will be in an even more greatly diminished form that may not be worth sticking around for. I'd decide now how long you want to be on the sinking ship. I realize that has sort of a negative connotation but for a pilot depending on what you want, it could be a way to wring some more QOL out of this mess, at least for a few months.

AA completely controls whether we have any flying out of NYC, but I doubt if they get involved in where we have crew bases.

If we had all our pilots based in HNL, AA would probably just ask the same two questions:
-Can you get flights out on time?
-At what cost?

In the scenario I imagine, AA has not yet communicated that Envoy and the 145 are done in NYC. Even though they've already told the shareholders.

Actually AAG does control where they want the WOs.

While it may not be official that the NY base is closing, it is a fact there is no flying and no aircraft there. I think despite looking at the ‘Voy through KoolAid colored glasses, even THKooj could see the NY base is closing.

"American doesn't compete in the East or West. All of the real American action is in DFW and ORD. That's why AAG is pulling Envoy out of NYC and MIA. Welcome to American!"

So the management didn't walk away from the AIP? Management didn't fire the crew from the ORD wrong turn incident (the captain got his job back)? Management didn't blow COVID off as a "small blip in human history?" Management didn't turn a blind eye to the former chief pilot in ORD? Management didn't just roll out a buyout program without any input from ALPA? Management doesn't think that places like the Holiday Inn SGF are bad hotels? Come one. Be real. The biggest problem with the management at Envoy is that they have been here forever. There's no new blood. Look at their seniority numbers. They only know the decades of abuse from AMR and AAG. They haven't worked anywhere else and refuse to believe that there are better ways to do things.

“Small blip in human history”. Too bad that didn’t get leaked to the press. What a moronic thing to say.

Even if this plague is with us until the end of the human race, do you really think the lockdowns will be?

I'd be surprised if any of this mandatory shelter in place, face covering, small businesses must close stuff is still going on in a year.

I'd be surprised if any of this mandatory shelter in place, face covering, small businesses must close stuff is still going on November 4th.

I fixed it for you.

Yes, the world is shut down until the US Election.

This will be fun to bump on Nov 5th

NoValueAviator 07-29-2020 10:10 PM

I'm not into conspiracies but the polls revealing that the incumbent's approval rating plunges whenever new COVID restrictions are imposed definitely did not incentivize a mature, well considered response.

Cyio 07-30-2020 02:28 AM

I mean I get the November theory, I don’t believe it but I get it. Even if that were true and there is some cabal behind the scenes orchestrating this, the damage has been done to consumer confidence. It will take time to earn that back.

Back to reality now, this isn’t a US virus. It is wreaking havoc around the world with many countries once again seeing an uptick.

Again, many are pinning their hope on a vaccine being the answer, which I would agree will start the process of repairing the damage, but again will take time.

This doesn’t just disappear in November.

It's "crowd" and "their". Since you're focused on ineptitude.

And this is a fact.

buddies8 07-31-2020 01:38 PM

Well you will have take that up with the spell checker. Grammar police should be defunded.

You might want to do some reading on the policies that helped the US recover from the Great Depression, or more recently the Great Recession.

oh, you mean a world war that left the US as the only mass producer of consumer goods in the world? I mean, it worked, but not sure we should nuke China right now to eliminate competition
