Hmmmmmm. Interesting. Flight Leadership Changes Priority: Efective Date:07/02/14 12:00:00 AM CST Flight Leadership Changes As we work to restore American to greatness, we’re focused on several areas of the operation. One area in which we want to be industry leaders is pilot recruitment. And with the expansion of our regional family to include a larger number of wholly owned carriers, we see the relationship between the regional carriers and the mainline operation becoming increasingly important. To be the best, we want to hire and train the best, and position the mainline operation for success by coordinating efforts for pilot recruitment, hiring and training. To help achieve this goal, Captain Bob Skinner will take on a new role, reporting directly to me, with a primary focus on creating ways to ensure that our wholly owned regional carriers continue to have the exceptional candidate pool we’ve experienced thus far. Captain Skinner will also work closely with each of our regional carriers to ensure our pilots are fully prepared to successfully transition to the new American when they are offered new hire positions. Captain Skinner’s extensive training experience and overall passion for bringing new pilots into the industry will position American Airlines as a driving force in addressing and overcoming this industry challenge. In this new role, he will be uniquely positioned to help us maintain a steady supply of highly-skilled and customer-focused pilots. Please join me in congratulating Bob and welcoming him to our team. All the best, Tim Campbell |
Don't forget regional feed is 50% of the new AA. Keeping regionals staffed is a huge priority for Doug Parker. The question is not about seniority numbers but what numbers are we going to negotiate. If they want us to stay another 5/7/9 years in an RJ, what are we going to get in exchange? All wholly ownes should be working together to get the best deal for us. We have upper upper management on our side.

Seriously, this from someone at PSA? |
Gee, it would have been nice if the guys at PSA thought about this a few months back.

No it won't. Just military pilots who think they are entitled to something better than the regionals. No loss there.
Dude, everyone pays their dues whether its 10 years at a regional or 10 years in the military. I was just chatting with a training dept Capt the other day and he said a few of the flows (I didn't say all) are showing some attitude and not coming prepared to training. Not sure if that's an entitlement thing or not... Again not saying all or most flows are like that but its being noticed. |

Not sure if thats true or not either. But when you are captain for so long and are stuck in your ways i can see why its hard to go back to being an fo. There are a few flowthroughs that are so bad they couldn't even land the stupid 80. And they give these guys way more than 2 or 3 chances. |
One of the guys in the June 17 class is, um, unique. I'm sure he will set a new bar for envoy flows.
