Maybe you've never had trouble before because you've become something you never used to be. You present yourself here now as someone who isn't going to interview well and believe me, this type of thing (covert negativity and alienation) is fairly easy to extract by competent interviewers. Most people are surprised at how they present themselves when viewing themselves interviewing and reveal things about themselves they are unaware of. I used to conduct employment interviews in a past life for a market research firm and that was a known aspect even before the honing of the process that has occurred over the last couple of decades.

You may THINK you'll interview well now, but unless you're an accomplished liar, your present attitude will bely itself whether you're aware of it or not. Of course, maybe you ARE an accomplished liar and will succeed ? You have to admit, that's what will be required to fleece those trying to find out about YOU, because clearly, if you're honest, you'll come across to them just like you are here. It's just a suggestion, but you might want to start preparing for that day now and reinvent your attitude.

Being 30 years old, yes I've missed the boat. Anyway enough about me, in done explaining my reasoning to overly optimistic aviation enthusiasts. Bottom line is I chose this career because it seemed like easy money with a lot of time off, the time off is severely lacking so I'm done, good luck to all of you still chasing the pipe dream.

Eaglefly I'm not getting an interview anywhere I'm not worried. I may have 5+ years down the road when it was already too late to have a good career but I stopped updating my apps, so there is 0% chance of an interview now.

There in lies the problem! Laziness! Easy money and a lot of time off.... Anyway good luck to ya I'm not sure you're going to be satisfied with any of the real jobs ....

Virtually all companies large and small look for the "right fit" in personality. But, alas, let's face it, it IS an imperfect process and in the past especially regarding the "airline pilot interview". Plenty of pilots sign up to get "gouge" and coaching to play the "game" well. Many times that works, but then the true personality reasserts itself sometime after success and as we all know, you fly with a pilot who has made it to the line and............well, you just shake your head and ask yourself *** ?

ALL airlines have that same situation. Most are good people and decent sticks, but one has to be pretty flexible in this profession as the personality spectrum is pretty wide which includes various personality disorders, obsessive-compulsives, micro-managers, various neurosis and even a psychotic or two. I'm sure if each of us thinks back to all the pilots we've flown with there are plenty of ............shall we say "interesting" characters. In a way that's good, because it SHOULD force each of us to consider how others might see us as flying companions in the hope of avoiding ourselves what we see as flaws in others.

I think your expectation level is completely out of whack. That was prevalent back in the late 90's when some regionals were upgrading in 2 years or less. Many pilots then saw their buddy who picked regional A and was a 26 year old airline captain and they were still F/O at regional B and claimed failure. I flew with a some of those types back then and the sentiment was that they would make RJ captain in their mid-20's, move to a major within 2 years (1000 121 PIC) and make 757 F/O by their very early 30's (complete with new 'vette to drive to work). They went on to pontificate making captain in their mid-late 30's and by 45 have that big house, ski boat and a Baron and Pitts S-2S stuffed in the hanger for weekend playing. The last 10 years to 60 would be spent as a 777 captain with a 2-3 million lump sum pension to coast on.

Yes, what a dream, eh ?

Perhaps it's time to come back to reality and reassess your expectations along with your attitude ?

Many of us former flows are relatively junior narrow body F/O's and not claiming hopeless failure like you are and we're 20-30 years older then you.

Have you given any thought to corporate flying or fractional? It could be a better fit for you. It's not uncommon to have far better schedules like 7 on 7 off that kind of thing. The pay upfront is much better as I'm sure you probably know. Have you spent any time lurking in the fractional part of the forums?
