Envoy returns to NY

It's official. Envoy is reopening LGA as a base. Additionally, a new vacancy for 107 additional Captains has been released. More details to follow.

Smutter 09-28-2016 09:53 AM

See we can have good news at ENVOY. Why are we going to LGA, I thought PSA was doing that place. Are they coming to Chicago?

Wow! No HI6 has been put out yet. Any displacements on the bid as well?

It's out, and no.

AdiosMikeFox 09-28-2016 09:58 AM

Awesome!

Welcome home, NY!

ORDinary 09-28-2016 09:58 AM

Are they going to apologize for their mistake in closing it? I'm mostly kidding, this is good news though.

In the announcement they mention we'll be flowing 90 in the first 90 days of 2017. I guess that means we are metering, even though AA wants more.

Pedro4President 09-28-2016 10:03 AM

Well, it looks like things are finally moving again. How many upgrades is that this year?

leica typ240 09-28-2016 10:05 AM

...YES!!! no more commuting, life is great!

*edit*

my excitement is short-lived, just read
the letter. it's only 140/145 A/C, good news for the people on that equipment!

blackbox348 09-28-2016 10:05 AM

So what does this mean for TSA

Skyvector 09-28-2016 10:07 AM

No displacements, all new Captain upgrades. Here's the breakdown:

25 CA DFW E175

12 CA ORD CRJ

70 CA LGA E145

Pntbllr233 09-28-2016 10:09 AM

So where do they get the planes from? Moving planes from Chicago and Dallas to NYC?

They haven't said yet. Either they are moving planes, or there is more to announce.

daOldMan 09-28-2016 10:16 AM

Mostly just 50 seaters, from what I have heard. Taking back Air Wisconsin's flying.

copycopy 09-28-2016 10:20 AM

Really hoping they make a change to the FO jet to jet ban, as I would really like to go back to NY but am on the CRJ.

They should be downsizing the CRJ soon. PSA has been officially been told that they would be accepting more 700 transfers in March.

That should help you out.

Probably DFW since all the E75 will be base there..gives more gates for the E75..:D

MD-11Loader 09-28-2016 11:01 AM

This is excellent news. Hopefully these airframes are the ones that are being taken back and brought out of storage. Growth is good.

Growth is bad for flow. Shrinkage is good when you are flowing. If Envoy is flowing 300+ next year, and losing 200 to outside attrition, that will only work if you can get 25 new hires per class.

It is better to be shrinking, that way you don't need to be restricted in the flow if you are not able to hire as many as you need. Instead of needing 25 per class, you only need 15.

Sure thing, old man. Too bad you don't work at Envoy. But your constant predictions and babbling sure is cute..in a way that a slow kid with a helmet and spit cup is cute.

Btw: you have officially posted more in this thread than anyone else. Including people who actually work at Envoy. You have serious problems.

Am I wrong in this? Will Envoy park airplanes and still flow people?

Would you rather have more regional pilots or mainline pilots? Growing regionals is bad, shrinking regionals is good - IF the pilots are going to mainline. That is what is happening at Envoy. You are flowing 90 in the first 90 days. That is great. And if you can not hire, the flow will slow. That is bad.

Skyvector you the man! Right on point! :)

So what will this mean for possible new hires? Straight to NY for the next quarters worth of classes?

I've seen on another forum, you can bid for it since it's a new base..

Not sure if it's true..

copycopy 09-28-2016 11:23 AM

Not the case, from what I understand, as FO jet to jet transitions are banned by our contract.

It means approx 6 or 7 planes worth of flying is probably leaving one of the northeast carriers.

Probably not, we have a lot of people dying to go back to NY. But I have no clue.

diva 09-28-2016 01:33 PM

American plans on hire 850-1000 pilots in 2017 and have requested 480 pilots to come from Envoy (40/month subject to operational limitation & needs).

Envoy sent 151 pilots to American in 2015,

so far sent 253 pilots (projecting 300-330 pilots) in 2016,

and expects to send an additional 330-480 pilots in 2017.

So far Envoy has sent 952 pilots to American.

With the recent and additional upcoming news at Envoy a new hire can expect to upgrade in less than 3 years and flow to American in 5-6 years.

If your future goal is to work for American, the largest Airline in the world, Envoy is the path to American.

It's a good time to be a Envoy pilot ! =)

We have not sent 253 this year, we have sent under 200. Our management is telling us they plan on sending 330 next year, though it is true that AA has asked for more than that. While our schedules are still awful I agree that on the whole things are looking up. It's about time.

If you plan on sending that many pilots, you better walk into the Mesa DFW crew room and do some recruiting. You'll have no issues filling classes

Mesa's JO does enough recruiting for us. No need.

Very true!

mr25cents 09-28-2016 01:53 PM

This is great news for those that live in the NE area. So I'm guessing LGA is gonna have around 7-10 birds (so far), how many lines is that? Don't wanna change bases and end up in rsv, that would be a huge "D'Oh!".

N1234 09-28-2016 01:55 PM

I am truly happy for you guys. Good news finally!!!

What I am wondering though if anyone has ever been held accountable for all this mis-management?

Close NY / Open NY
Encourage people to leave through poor QoL / finally increase pay etc. to attract new hires

Strikes me as a lot of yield loss in the process ....

No, that's why, we don't like our upper management.

That's what I'm thinking also. Probably getting back some birds AA issued to TSA that were originally ours. I can't imagine any displacements since we still have lots of guys that commute from that area.

I thought the XJT airplanes had shorter leases. Did they renew?

Dorn 09-28-2016 03:26 PM

While it's true that AA has asked for 40 a month as of today the email from our management said 330. It is in everyone's interest to get more to AA. It will really depend on what our hiring is capable of. If all this news of pay and now new base, increases our new hires then I personally see more than the 330. That is obviously yet to be seen but so far I have to give credit where it's due. We have seen them put their money where their mouth is and so far it's good. I think SK who is now at UAL was really putting a lid on us and now the powers that be are making due. Lots to be seen still, but I think a new hire here is going to have a good QOL/ movement than at most regionals. Then again I'll still say I wish we had our west coast ops back. Maybe soon that will come back, who knows... At least pay and movement are on the up and up.
We're not all lollipops and roses but it's been several years of beatdown and I think we're finally past that and are moving to better pastures. I sincerely think that a new hire today will have a better experience then many of us did. Here's the way I see it. You come here and have AA in your back pocket, build the time/experience and put your apps in to whomever floats your boat. Worst case is your dream airline doesn't call then you have AA in your back pocket. That's not a bad gig if you ask me.

I'd just guess tran states. It's 140 pilots so about 12 planes. Most likely 40 lines. I think they have that many airplane plus minus 4.
