Note I said large. Publix fits this, maybe on other mentioned. But I don’t know that the others would be termed large cap companies.

So you are saying he provided exactly what you asked for.

I wonder what percentage of publix stock is owned by past, non-active employees. That could throw a wrench on the argument for employee owned companies.

USAA is technically owned by its customers ("members") and it's done pretty well. Not employee owned though I suppose.

Northwestern Mutual is the same as USAA, in fact any insurance company with ‘Mutual’ in the title fits that bill.

Correct. If you're a tax-payer, you don't want public-sector unions anyway, that's just organized, institutionalized looting of the public coffers. There's a reason our military is the best in the world, and most of the rest of the government can't find it's posterior with both hands.

But the federal civil service is equally large, but they still suck. |

Best on a per capita basis, from the human performance perspective.

The military's success compared to the government unions has absolutely nothing to do with one being union and the other not. In fact, if you REALLY want to get into it, ask yourself why the thing you saying is the best in the world is essentially the closest thing in the United States to socialism.
Probably the closest thing we have is the unionized VA system. In areas with political influence it works great- such as DC area. Other areas, not so hot. Success is not rewarded and bad health care professionals are almost impossible to fire, even if they are a “007” (license to kill). My wife has been trying to get rid of an incompetent OB/GYN who is so bad they don’t permit her to practice any more. She has spent the last two years sitting at home collecting $300k/year. To do nothing. Many examples. One in Kansas was really bad and they tried to fire him, but couldn’t until he threw gas on a nurse and lit her on fire. Then they fired him. |
