Nov 4th, Indoc class
#6
I've been watching this closely for the past few months and I've concluded there's no point worrying about it (for the 145). What happened for the last few classes might be totally different for a class starting next week or next month. Or it might be the same. On the 2.0 thread, someone with an apparent clue says there will be a lot of IAH assignments coming soon, but IAH has been relatively rare for the past 3-4 classes.
There's a system bid every 2-3 months (they are about to close the 6th one for 2019) and you can base trade every month, effective at the start of the bid period that's ~5-6 weeks out. Other than TYS, which is very small, most people are getting the base they want within a couple of months of exiting training, if not by the time they exit training. So no one should be making any relo decisions based on the initial base assignment if they don't want that base. Worse case, you commute for a few months.
This is all in the context of the 145. 175s are just IAH and ORD for now and it might be a totally different situation.
