If that is true, I guess a good amount of new peeps will be going into the 145 then?
If you are about to start training you want the 145. Right now the seniority list for the 175 has around 160 FOs for 25 airplanes. 75% of those are 2019 hires. If you get the 175 today you could easily be on reserve for a year or longer. The fact the 145 fleet is now growing means very short reserve and the ability to move up the seniority list in a hurry. Don’t let the shiny jet suck you in. Now is the wrong time for it at XJT. I predict a year from now 145 FOs upgrading to captain at about the same time 175 FOs are getting off of reserve with the same hire date. |
I agree with DSPS. I’m about 50% on the 175 and I’ve been sitting reserve for the past two months and haven’t been called once. Training scheduling has had to add trips to my schedule to try to get me to 100 hours for consolidation before the 120 day deadline. It will only get worse when the 40-50 FOs who haven’t finished IOE hit the line.
I’m wishing I had done what 2 of my classmates did and insist on the 145 during indoc by threatening to resign. They wanted particular bases which are not served by the 175, but it would be worth insisting on the 145 for career advancement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It may be the longest reserve sit in all of the regionals at this moment in time. What it boils down to is you need people under you to ever get off reserve. There are 2 ways this happens. Through growth of the fleet or through attrition at the top creating vacancies. Neither of these things will be happening in any significant numbers for the next year. I think we have a fantastic shot at getting the next order of 19 options, but until then there will be very little movement on the list. However the 145 FO list now has attrition from both new captain upgrades and from fleet growth. One beginning right now on that airframe would be in a fantastic spot for lots of flying and rapid movement up the list. |

Very few pilots plan on staying at XJT, most are waiting for class dates at Envoy and other regionals.

There are 1433 on the list right now. I think the low a few months ago was around 1380. So hiring has been outpacing attrition for several months now. |

The plan is to hire 800+ plus this year alone. That’s including with the attrition in mind
