It might only apply to mainline employees. The government has no desire to save the regional airlines.

Few questions,
-has XJT ever laid anyone off before in company’s history (9/11, 2008)?
-if we get furloughed, can I got work for another 121/135 company?
-might be too early to tell but do you think our union leader will come up with a lower MMG before proceeding onto furloughs ?

XJT furloughed about 340 pilots in 2008. Things were pretty miserable for a couple years for those who were still there. The furloughed guys got preferential offers at other carriers, including Compass. Most of those who went to Compass and stayed are sitting in the left seat of a Delta jet currently. The difference between then and now is that ALL the carriers are equally screwed....and if the majors also furlough, competition is gonna be fierce.

XJT furloughed after 9/11 and in 2008. I was one of the 347 pilots who took up to a 2 year vacation.

You can work wherever you want.

The CBA has certain steps that need to be followed before furloughs.

To be blunt no ones job is safe in the 121 world. UA is expecting to be 70/80% of it’s pre-corona size. They also believe it will take 2-3 years to recover. We have 13000 pilots on our seniority list. Do the math. I expect to hit 10/1/2020 when the provisions of the stimulus expire. The size of the UEX fleet is tied to mainline size. There will be plenty of pain for everyone and what aviation jobs are available will be tough to get.

ETA: flynd94 was a couple minutes ahead of me.

As mentioned, yes, to both. And at both times, pilots went to other carriers. But also as mentioned, this is different since it sucks for almost everyone as far as we know NOW.

Hopefully that would happen, they did it post 2008 to lessen tne
displacements and furloughs.
