So what will happen to XJT pilots that have already been hired at United through the Aviate program ?

They had to complete hours and time in service at express jet, or can they get the time at any other UAX carrier ?

Obviously United will not be hiring any time soon.

They have to complete their time at a UAX Aviate carrier. If they've already completed their time they have to fly commercially anywhere for 6 months before transitioning to United.

What does fly commercially mean? Pipeline patrol?

It just says perform regularly scheduled duties as PIC or SIC in a commercial operation. It doesn't get more specific. This is only if you already have the 2000 hours and 24 months at an Aviate carrier.

Interesting. Hopefully they will provide some more clarity. I would guess they mean employed by an air carrier certificate holder which is reasonably broad and at least gives affected pilots a fighting chance. I can't imagine they mean any operation requiring a commercial pilot license but that would be nice.
