parking at IAH
Hey guys I'm new to this game and was given then the suggestion to post this here (I fly for GoJet). I could use some help with parking at IAH. I commute out of there to ORD and I have been paying for the cheapest parking I can find. Costing me about 40$ a trip. If anyone can tell me how i can alleviate the cost of this by pointing me in the right direction with a contact or a process I would appreciate it. I've called some of the parking places there and they are of no help. Thanks

I don't commute out of IAH but the companies I have flown for gave me a letter that I took to the airport employee parking office. With that, I was able to get access to the employee parking lot. Depending on the airport, it cost $50-100 a month. I would check with your company about getting a similar letter and go from there.

If you do park at the Sheraton, try to park under a light. Cars have been known to get broken into in that lot

flash your lights they’ll let you in. Show your badge and park. My Xjt badge hasn’t worked for almost a year and haven’t had an issue

Yes I have called them and GoJet is not on their list. Looks like I'm SOL. I'm considering the Sheraton but I'm worried I would get caught or something. I commute in uniform so maybe they wont think anything of it.

The Ramada on Will Clayton headed into the airport used to advertise parking. Try there.

Looks like there’s a city bus that goes to the airport with stops by the Greensport mall. Might be worth looking into.

Do they still call that area Gunspoint? That what it was called when I lived in Houston a decade ago.
It’s even worse today. I would not park my car there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
The parking garages are only 10 bucks a day(normally 24). No sun damage, walk into the terminal without having to ride a bus...what am I not getting here?

Ask if there’s an employee deal for commuters. My home airport offers it.

I ended up paying for parking at a hotel. Cheapest I could find. It's the little things like this that they dont tell you about when starting this job.

I agree with what you said. If it wasn't for COVID-19 I would live in base sooner than later. No sense in doing it now if I'm gonna get furloughed.
