ExpressJet

I am a flight instructor at ABE and there are 2 ExpressJet EMBs at the fbo right now. I thought they stopped all of their branded flying. Any insight??

Charter flights

wmuflyboy 03-30-2009 01:29 PM

whats the difference then?

The branded was scheduled service. The charter is on demand. The big contracts are with college teams and NASCAR.

I believe they were doing regularly scheduled flights as expressjet in the branded aircraft and using them for charter flights. Now any flights using those aircraft are chartered aircraft. Not sure if they use them as spares ie RAH style or not.

Branded is scheduled service. Charter is on demand. They are using it just like a company would charter a GV, only for a lot more people - sports teams, large corporate groups etc.

I think the issue for the OP has probably been answered, any good news coming out of XJT? Any possibility of recalls for attrition, growth?? Or worse any further furloughs?? Don't hear to much about them on here about their current status.

It has happened that way but not a common practice. I know CAL used to have beef with it because it had our logo/name on it. But now that there's no scheduled competition, I don't know if that has changed.

I try not to pay attention too much - show up/go home routine, but the news is there's IS no news. No growth that I've heard, no recalls either. I'd say we might be slightly overstaffed (according to the company) but no talk of furloughs.

No good news to report right now but no bad news. I don't think people are leaving and we have people comming back from leave but no talks of more furloughs.

CAL will allow XJT to use charter a/c to cover CAL flights if there are no other options but 99% of the time we can only use the COEX A/C to cover the CAL flying.
