ExpressJet Recalls

96 Recalls with the first class starting on January 25.

That still leaves 249 furloughed although some have found better jobs and will not return.

NightIP 12-07-2009 09:37 AM

Hoping this is the first round of many!

Good news for the guy that was the very last to be furloughed. Must have been a tough year! Sorry for the one that has to take his spot on the list.

Superpilot92 12-07-2009 10:05 AM

Great news. they want me to interview for a position. I am strongly considering it. If I can contact H.R. to see how far these recalls will go, I may do it. If its' one thing I know about Express Jet, They believe strongly in hiring/tranfering from within.

What position?

It is true they like to promote from within but we will soon have a new CEO and all bets are off as to what the "new" company culture will be like.

You must be interviewing for Flight Attendant or Airport Services. Either way, just be mindful that most positions require a 1 year commitment before transferring to another department.

Congrats to the lucky 96. We look forward to having you back on property.

Expressjet recalling hundreds, mesa furloughing hundreds. I sense an imbalance in the Force, or are the good guys finally winning?

Word is that most will be going to CLE because that is where the bulk of the United flying will come out of...that is unless they open a new base. But who knows.

Along those lines I would expect more announcements. This is just simply an educated guess and I have no basis for it, but IMHO you can't run a cost effective operation with 32 frames on deadheads and reserves living in hotels.

I mean if ASA only got 14 frames and they're opening a base in ORD and IAD, I can't imagine we wouldn't open at least one new domicile.

I guess we'll see.

I can't wait for the next episode when Emperor Tilton comes out of hiding and takes center stage in "United Strikes Back."

B-DUB! Haha, hey man. I'm right around 300, so I've still got a ways to go. I've got a pretty ridiculous line at Cape right now though (15 days off a month, holidays off, home by lunch), so life ain't bad in the mean time. I'm just looking forward to not having to fly 30 year old props in the weather anymore. :D

Congrats guys, that's really great to hear. Not a bad way to go into the holidays I guess. Hopefully the rest won't be far behind.

So considering this latest group of recalls, at what point would you say things are looking up for aviation? Or have we merely found the bottom?

I believe the other airlines recalls have been due to small growth in hours from whatever majors they fly for, or for small amounts of attrition.

This recall at xjet is just for the united flying. I believe the union said the company would evaluate the continental schedule next year and see if any additional recalls are needed.

So to answer your question...it looks like the regional world is ever so slowly crawling back up from rock bottom. I wouldn't plan on a whole lot of new hires classes next year though...probably just the really high-time-already-typed-thousands-of-hours-turbine-time guys getting picked off the top of the stacks of resumes.

Has an F/A. I figure I could hang out there for a while till they start hiring again. I WILL NOT be wearing any skirts, heels, etc. On or off duty. I know some guys/gals took that route to get on with thier respective carrier.

The new CEO could be a concern, I trust the board knew what brought XJET sucess in the past and they will use that knowledge to pick a guy or gal like that in the future. XJET knows if you take care of your people, they will take care of you. Sadly the majority of airlines know longer think like that anymore. Besides I want to get out of the midwest. I'm sure you've seen the winters up here, DEPRESSING!!!!

I want to start a commitee to get Gordon Bethune as the CEO. Man that woud be awesome!!

F.A. I thought it was, what 6 months or 90 days. Besides, I already worked for XJET so I guess I have timed served, or I'll ask at the interview. Xjet let me take a leave of absence to build up my flight time. When I tried to come back of course they were no longer hiring pilots at the time. But I am very glad they remembered me, and the chance to get the hell out of the Midwest, man it is very tempting.

I don't blame you ONE BIT on that one!!!!!! :D

ImperialxRat 02-17-2010 04:31 PM

Well since nobody has posted it yet, guess I will.

Via a Jetlink newsletter today, ExpressJet is recalling 32 more and opening an ORD base for 50-55 crews.

Congrats to us! I should be in this group of 32.

Congrats to us! I should be in this group of 32.

A "clarification" has been posted by someone on the pipe which was supposedly said by a FO rep (since the union would never actually say anything clearly themselves and only rely on pilots to post the **** they say on the phone when you call them)

They have 80 in class right now plus the 16 people already scheduled and an additional (new) 16 pilots are needed. That makes it 112 total.

So it's apparently 16 recalls, not 32. Good luck.

meyers9163 02-17-2010 05:06 PM

How many will still be on the street?

About 235.

But rumor has it (since the union wont say) that 112 recalls will mean something like 140-150 letters have been sent, with about 30% deferring.

I saw that. Sort of frustrating. Well, 16 or 32 recalls for now.. Any recalls are better than no recalls.

EDIT: Also supposedly they meant to say 110 crews in ORD. I'm gonna stop posting info since even when put out in a union email it is still inaccurate.

ImperialxRat 02-18-2010 06:26 PM

Well another email today.

It clarified that previously the company sent 125 letters to fill 80 spots. Now they are going to send 50 more letters to fill 32 spots, bringing the total recalls to 112.

Also, ORD will have 110 crews.

So it will reach me, which is very exciting. I am looking forward to flying above 12,000' again.
