I would still rather have our contract versus UPS even though all UPS Captains make 4$ more.

The 76 can't take all of the 75 flying unless\until the bid packs are merged.

SIG has NOTHING to do with the distribution of flying. Company determines the breakdowns between Bases\Planes. Company builds the pairings. SIG reviews the pairings, works to fix\improve them. Then the SIG builds the lines IAW MGT's targeted BLG.

75 BLG/76 BLG in recent history
75:41/75:3
94/93:56
76:05/75:31

July's is still TBD.
But if the 75 Capt list is shrinking, IMO-that's a good thing. Better than keeping the 75 list artificially high, building everything to min-BLG, and only paying X number of 75 guys WB pay if\when they get launched on reserve

As an example,
our Intl override is 3.5 more
our vacation is 6 vice 5 per day (not taking the time to look up the days, think they're similar)

Would much, much rather have our commuting bennies vice UPS.

APC says Junior UPS Capt hired July 2005.
So, greatly prefer our larger pilot group as well

The pairings have turned in to trash or have been moved to the IND76 or MEM76 bidpack. At one time 757 bidpack had 180 lines but now the Capts. are down to 138 and F/O's are down to 112

Not to long ago we were told the bidpack was going to be split yet the opposite has happened. If you were on 727 at the end it feels kind of like that except worse. The CRS manager is building HTLSTBY daily to force people to come sit so to show reserve utilization no matter the cost to the company for the hotels. I just hope the rumor of a 757 displacement is true so those trying to move off are no longer stuck while newhires are getting better schedules flying a widebody.

Anybody else have any more insight because our SIG seems to be left out of the loop as well as to the future of the 75?
All speculation here, but I'm not sure that they'd run a displacement-at least not in the sense that most of us would consider one. The 309/215 numbers you quoted are likely currently activated pilots in seat, not what would be used for any kind of system bid as those are based off what awards people hold even if they're not in seat yet. I would guess that more than 309 total people hold a 75C award and less than 215 people hold a 75F award.

If we use the new Sec 24 for the next bid, I could see them manipulating the current, min, and max staffing levels in a manner that would that keeps a displacement off the table. Let's say 350 people hold a 75C award, but the company only wants 215 75C. They could put the current and max staffing level at 350, but the min at 215. They don't have to fill a 75C in that case until they get below 215, but with current and max being equal there is no displacement or ability to bid to relieve. Similarly if they put current, min and max for the 75F seat at 215 they would end up with more new hire vacancies, which they already have, but it wouldn't yield displacements. I expect a similar dance for as long as they can pull it off whenever they start to pull down the MD. Really just a fancier way of how they didn't fill secondaries on the DC10 or 727 for a long time when they were drawing them down before they officially excesses those fleets.

with 400 new hires per year the company is going to lock current 75 FO's into only one real option...upgrade to Captain or stay in your NB FO seat. With 2 year waiting list to train its a brilliant plan to keep the 75 FO seat staffed...albeit against most peoples will.
