I called Memphis. On second attempt I didn't leave a message but spoke to a person. He suggested making a booking but I couldn't find a site to make a booking as Tennessee doesn't even show up on that website. Don't bother calling or making a booking.
I did a walk up. Waited less than 5 minutes. It is located on the second floor of the passenger terminal. Go up the escalator. Turn left. Walk less than minute. It is on your right. Sign at ceiling level says Homeland Security. Sign on glass door says Global Entry. Hours are between 915 and 1230 Monday to Wednesday.
Have your passport and drivers license. A few questions on travel. What occasioned travel to the Vatican? China? Any convictions? They take four fingerprint scans (4+1 on each hand).
Both guys seemed very winsome and extremely competent.
I will need a new passport soon as mine is almost full. He said that when I get a new passport, I can pop in without an appointment. I'll need to associate the new passport with Global Entry.
If I had it to do over, I might get my new passport first.
The delay from filling out the form online until clearance by email was about four months. Waiting time from that point to an interview in the city that extorts taxes from me was an additional four months. Then you are good for five years. I forgot to ask when the five year period starts. Initiation, initial approval or interview approval? If someone else could ask that question during your interview, I'd be glad of an answer.
