The Rules
Guys are still leaving the hotels in Japan. Is it that hard to follow the last Japan FCIF? The Takashimaya store is not in the hotel.

You are given three pieces of paperwork to sign that state not to leave the hotel. We are our worst enemy. There's so many here with the "me" attitude. |

Agree. I've seen a lot of guys leave the hotel complex completely and go downtown.

4 months for 3 hours, yeah that seems about right. Guess you're not in Kansas anymore. With apologies to the people of Kansas....

So, perhaps everyone will be more careful about following the rules now? It could have been worse, they could have caned him. |

Singapore doesn’t screw around. Remember the federal case In the 90s about the American kid who was busted spray painting a car or something. He was sentenced to be caned.
I was told he was on the next plane out, with his family, after the caning. |
Start caning us, I can GA-RUN-TEE that'll fix the non-compliant who can't seem to follow simple instructions.

The article in the link said 4 weeks, not months, but it still sucks for him.

If you are in a foreign country you are subject to their laws. It doesn’t matter that you think it’s not fair that you can’t leave your room. They don’t care what you think. Hopefully we can be smart enough to realize that by violating a sovereign country’s laws you jeopardize our company’s ability to do business there and can and will cost the company millions of lost revenue which can translate into lost jobs for all of us. If that’s not enough incentive, spending months or years in a foreign jail as your cellmate’s “special” friend should be enough of a disincentive to not screw up. Times suck. Corona virus is overblown. That doesn’t mean you won’t end up in a foreign jail sucking your thumb as your cell mate...use your worst imagination. Unless you are into that sort of thing.
Oh... and you’ll get to pay a big fine too and probably lose your job by costing the company millions. So that AVA trip you’re on when you leave the hotel where you were told you can’t leave....that money is spent on lawyers and a fine. No boat for you. Just a sore... If you wanna play chicken with the law, and break corona restrictions, do it in Texas. Some lawmaker will go to bat for you and have you cut their hair as well. Foreign country where you don’t have constitutional rights...well that ain’t so smart amigo. |
Great shot of him walking out with his uniform pants on, obviously didn’t bring his courtroom suit with him. If I was him I’d had walked out both middle fingers in the air, no mask, Gene Simmons tongue.....I mean, how bad can a caning be?
Way to go representing our company. Thanks. |
How's the China detainee doing?
|
And if you think there are no consequences, the Singapore pilot who left the hotel is now spending 4 weeks in a Singapore prison.
|
Joey, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?

One of the requirements of our crew member exemption in Japan is that we self-isolate in the hotel. This exemption eliminates the requirement for crewmembers to be quarantined for 14 days in Japan. In the current environment having the ability to self-isolate in the hotel and not in your room is a benefit. We have been receiving reports that crewmembers are leaving the hotel for a myriad of reasons. Contrary to what the hotel staff says, this is not allowed, you must self-isolate in the hotel. The hotel staff may not understand that crewmembers staying at the hotel are under the crewmember exemption. The COVID-19 Entry document provides the information that delineates the procedures for Japan. If you have any questions please contact your Fleet Manager or submit an Insite report to the COVID-19 Task Force. |
"Over," Under", "Under", "Done"
My dad says you were lazy, "Try telling your dad to drag Lamber up and down the court for 40 mins." |
I’m going to have to guess that for some reason I’m not seeing some of the replies being posted on this thread. Or maybe hotel incarceration is really starting to take a mental toll.

Nope, Just guys posting that the hotel rules as posted by the company and the host nation, don't apply to them.

Moral of the story then; foreign countries still suck. Got it. And I thought New York was bad.

Singapore's response to the pandemic was swift, measured and effective. Our response resembles a bunch of apes flinging poo at each other. Yeah they're the sucky ones....

He makes a great point - why can’t a land mass approximately 1,367,185% larger than the island nation of Singapore handle this the same way? Or, for that matter, have the same reliable high speed Internet?

You guys are something else.
USA Death Rate per million: 258 Singapore death rate per million: 4 Numbers don't lie. https://www.worldometers.info/corona...=homeAdvegas1? Our case rate per million is similar to theirs. Probably because they test more. |
Did someone up there just suggest that the Bill of Rights applies in Singapore?
I think some of you Constitutional Scholars slept through Civics class. |

And not to mention the Bill of Rights. I enjoy having a limited government. (although every day seems like a fight to protect our RIGHTS under them)

But I don’t expect to see anything more than a view of a closed airport for anytime in the near future on my layovers there. |
Oh I think the hotel quarantines will be part of this job for years.
Got to wonder if it will speed up retirements at all. This is certainly not fun anymore...... |
