Min guarantee concessions
It looks like now United in addition to Allegiant management is trying to get a lower min guarantee in exchange for reduced furloughs. From the few people discussing it, it seems like an unpopular idea at both places. At least among the type of people that do forums.
I remember thinking that FedEx did this at some point. Other than that I don't know of any pilot group agreeing to it. Did FedEx do this? If so how did it shake out? Would you do it again? Thanks |

Thanks I believe It has also changed wording wise from the last time it was used, so it may not shake out exactly how it did. |
That was in original 1998 Fedex Pilots Assoc CBA... ALPA would of never put that in a contract, if not already there. When that was implemented we had some guys getting 59 hours of pay and others getting a more regular Bid line gurantee around 72. Guys that were senior could bid carryover and protect themselves.
Not sure if we should keep it. |

Not sure if we should keep it. I will say as someone who was furloughed from a major after 9/11, if there is going to be a concession to try and save jobs, reducing the guarantee is the way to go versus taking a cut in pay rates. The majors fought forever to get their pay back to even close to what it was pre-9/11. |

A whole lot of that got fixed after we won the grievance (half won). 4.a.2.c is a lot better than 4.a.2.b. was and put some checks and balances in place to keep from happening what happened in 2008. Let's hope we never have to test it.

A reduced line guarantee isn't even unique to FedEx anymore with many of the majors/LCC's voluntarily doing it. Numerous airlines with pilots taking lower line credits and early retirements with lower line credits till they hit 65. This is what our 4.A.2.c is. It has a bunch of gates that have to be met and then they have to offer early retirement packages/LOA's and then they can lower the monthly guarantee with a lot of strings attached. As someone else said work less not for less and make sure other provisions are offered by the company prior to reduced line guarantees such as our CBA has.

Not sure if we should keep it. Full pay for them while the rest took a hit. |
