Granted nobody deserves this but you should give a bit more of an explanation.

As bars closed in IND around 3am an altercation took place with patrons in which a shooting occurred. A stray bullet struck the car carrying the FDX pilots and grazed one pilot. He was treated at the scene and both crewmembers returned to the hotel.

police report states a little more info.

You get an early show (or a late arrival) in to IND (or MEM or SDF or STL or DTW...) and you know there's a chance you won't come out standing up. You knew what you were getting in to!

They applied a tourniquet? A tourniquet? Either the wound was extremely bad, the cops had no idea on basic first aid, or you have bad information.

I’m guessing if the wound was bad enough to have a tourniquet applied, I don’t think they would be sending them back to the hotel. I’m thinking your information might be a little off.
