Out and back lot
Apparently it’s turned back into the Memphis locals lot?

Instead of hating on the few folks who abuse the lot, maybe we should turn our attention to the company that is not providing adequate parking space? Just a thought.
|
I'm still a big fan of placing a cone on the hood for each week of occupancy. Call it a dunce cap if you will.
|
Bottom line, if you’re not on an out and back or an airport standby, don’t park there.
|
It’s the 48-hour lot, not the out and back lot. Or the 777 Captain’s lot.
|
It’s past time for a parking garage with a covered walkway to AOC that could allow
2 or 3 times the current parking capacity... |

It’s is a 48 hour lot now, and our numbers have exceeded our allotted parking for years now. Esp. During peak with multiple airport standbys and extra pairings dragging more guys in. The lot next to it seems half full at most, time to move the fence and add a second level.

And one that's still frequently abused by various locals. The cone cars\trucks can be hilarious to a very infrequent user of the lot. |

not gonna happen. AOC is in works to move west across airways.

We should have a badge scan that can keep a record of parking time. We could also just have a receipt printed with an expiration time. Go over for a legit reason? Submit an Insite.
Certainly, we have grown by several hundred pilots and not added spaces. This has to be addressed at some point |

As PTB wrote, it's no longer and O&B lot. But a short time lot.

While I’m sure it’s abused by locals as well, the biggest offenders I have seen are beaters with out of state tags who are parked in the same spot for a month or more. There’s a red Nissan there now with a cone on it that’s been there for a month or more. Out of state tags and a marine Corps tag. That’s not a local. Quite a few others there that fit the same profile but nobody’s bothered to put a cone on them. |

When did they officially change it to a 48 hour lot? I missed that memo

Anchorage should get that first. Try walking to your car in 5F temps.
If I were SCP for a day, fixing parking issues would be one of my priorities, along with guaranteeing a complimentary hot breakfast at every hotel for inbound night-time/sunrise crews, plus I'd add 4 FDX-maintained bikes at every hotel where we have multiple crews with long enough layovers to enjoy riding them. Then again, I would probably only last a week in that position... |

While we're at it, the DEN ramp needs more parking spots. Not as cold as ANC, but it's close to a mile walk to the UPS lot (where most of our pilots have to park).

(and yes, I know MANY 777 guys that park in there..) |
Well, if you guys say it’s now the “48 hour” lot, that’s fine, but they still call it the out and back lot on vips to get the parking lot code....I still think it’s become the 48 hour lot because that’s what people have always called it in jest...I’ve seen no official documentation declaring it that, and yeah, I’m being a crybaby because I’ve just recently done a couple of out and backs and can’t find a single spot open in that lot...

It says right on the gate there’s a 48 hr limit. It was changed by the SCP several years ago. I too have not been able to find a spot there many times. I see many cars parked there for weeks and months at a time. The new SCP needs to crack the whip. |
Maybe they can bring “O” back from retirement and make that his special project...

maybe he should..I have noticed we have a very entitled culture within a select few of this pilot group. Basically screw the other guy while I get mine kind of thing. Or “ I have been here xx years so I’m entitled to do what ever the hell I want” Case in point the clown who rolled out of the out and back lot yesterday in his leather safari hat, wranglers and a suitcase the size of his ego. Clearly not going to be gone for less then 48hrs. Also took up two spots with his giant truck. But hey he got his spot while the rest of us do the bag drag to the Democrat.

OB lot should go to guys with 25 yos. :)

Didn't our illustrious SCP, BM, park his fuel-savings-bonus Maserati in the 1 hour (short call) lot?
(I never saw it, heard it as a hilarious rumor - maybe on this forum - that seemed likely to be fact). |

I know it's anecdotal, and I may not know extenuating details, but I have personally seen managerial office workers walking out to their cars in the 1 hour lot.

As far as I’m concerned they should all get limo service from home for the crap they put up with...
|
I thought it was a F-type (r) Jaguar. I remember seeing it parked in the short call lot

Maybe we are talking about two different lots. I'm referring to the short call lot, which you get a code from scheduling for. Seemed odd that office guys were using it is ail.

Since this post was made, someone has removed that "stop sign" shaped sign indicating the 48-hours that used to be on the entry gate!

Here is a picture of the lot layout and names.
O&B for the obvious, plus weekends, 48 hour layovers max. 1 hour is for running in to drop off paperwork, get a new passport, see your Fleet management, etc. Security has taken over half of that lot. Non-flight management is for everybody else in the building. Some TAA's, SIG, FOQA, ASAP have access. Late call is for the late call-out reserve, draft, etc. trips as well as flight management (Fleet Caps, Standards Manager, Fleet Managers, ACP, Asst. ACP etc.). |

Wish they had this map when I was new. I got called out at 3am for a 1 hour call out one morning. They gave me short call parking, except I had no idea where the lot was and neither did the scheduler and they removed the newhire guide from the iPad. I drove to every gate that would take a code and none worked. Finally a LCA type pulled up behind me and helped me out.
