Okay, I understand. Makes more sense then a bunch of captains randomly denying people.

End result is a 767 packed with 4 extra bodies on the flight deck unnecessarily.
So, it ends up falling on the Captains over there to enforce the rules, limit potential Covid exposures and keep the company's use of the JS within the accepted boundaries.
These are not commuting or deviating pilots trying to get to work. These are operational jumpseats being used by the company to move pilots on deadheads - many times when they are commercial alternatives or other FedEx aircraft with empty seats.
I'm not saying there aren't outliers out there doing something else, but the majority of the events I've heard about fall into the above situation.

Great explanation. Facts always give a better picture of reality. Numerous subjects misrepresented on this site with partial pieces and lack of facts.

Now we see how misinformed stories are reverberated on APC and other Internet forums. Fairly sad that people post accusations without all the facts.

I wonder why on the fdx.alpa.org home page under the "reference" section using the second icon from the right (MEC Meeting Information), the MEC still has the order of business for the ARP 21 meeting showing and the meeting minutes for that meeting are not published yet. Surly the MEC has an order of business for the JUL 19-23 meeting by now, why is it not posted? Maybe they are trying to figure out the Joint Council meeting times. Only time will tell.

So that got results very quickly!

3rd QTR REGULAR FDX MEC MEETING VIA VIDEO CONFERENCE
July 20-23, 2021
Memphis, TN

One has to ask, if it's via video conference, is it really in Memphis? Maybe it was going to be, but they changed their minds for some reason or another?

Also, I am glad to see the provided lunch will be McAllisters on Tuesday, Draper’s on Wednesday, Moe’s on Thursday, and Panera on Friday, so maybe its only partially via conference call?

So one could conclude that after the governmental restrictions were lifted, they still don't want to hear from us? If this amendment to our contract happens without face to face interactions between union membership and our elected representatives, there is a real likelihood for a troubled outcome. It's time they stepped up and held face to face meeting where we can express our opinions openly.

Is anyone shocked at this turn of events?

I hope I’m wrong. I don’t want to send ALPA the message that I’m all in for them if they aren’t paying attention to what would benefit us most. Especially when sending that message means turning down easy $. Hopefully I’m just being overly skeptical. I’m one for the cause, but I just want to know it’s for our cause not ALPAs cause in general over our own specifically.

Three post by others who just have reasons not to work extra. We have leverage NOW, its time to use it. Working a normal schedule isn’t going to sour negotiations, it will show the company the pilots are serious.

As far as I know, anyone in good standing can go to any MEC meeting, wherever it is convened.

Not true.

The MEC chairman has band members from Video Conferences last year. No updates so far.

Well by all means let's jumped to conclusions and assume the worst.
How about we at least make an attempt to make management try this time.

I guess I misunderstood you and thought you were saying they were going to convene a meeting for members to attend (and eat their lunch, presumably). I know physical meetings, they allow members in good standing to attend in person. Which I thought was your original point?

Band members...like a flute player? ;-)

Seems like I've seen time set aside for members at large during these online meetings. You should try that.
