NOQ and makeup trips during View/Add Window
Timing is everything. I bid for November, got a line that conflicted with one day of carryover, so all of November dropped. I called in sick, thought I might be out 3 weeks after a necessary surgery. During the View/Add window I submitted a list of trips for my November makeup. Also during View/Add window I did an INSITE for use of my DSA hours due to the surgery (that was BAD timing.) When the View/Add trips came out, I did not get ANY trips because I was NOQ, I have 6 hours of credit for November, and after consultation with my doctor I will likely be unable to fly for a couple months, so in November there no options to call in Well and get any credit hours. I have done the INSITE, fleet captain email, ALPA conversations, pretty much a dead end.
There are other situations besides Sick that give you the dreaded NOQ, and some of them have uncontrollable timing. But I could have received my November pay by delaying my INSITE request for DSA.
Two months until retirement and I am still learning scheduling the hard way.
Hope this confession helps someone.

I’m out NOQ now since July. Once the awards are out I simply email the PAC how many hours I wish to get paid and from what bank. The PAC responds within a couple hours and it’s taken care of the following week. EZ peazy. No insite needed. Did you only email or insite to use just 6hrs? The minimum is 36 to get credit for the month towards next years vacation/sick. Though this being November you probably already have that maxed out. I’m also confused as to how your Dr led you to believe you’d only be out a few weeks vs a few months. That’s typically a conversation that’s had before surgery not afterwards. That’s a huge difference. If you call the pac they’re very good at telling you what you can and can’t do. I’ve had lots of theoretical questions regarding my potential return to work in January and they’re all answered by the end of the day or they call me. One thing that was stressed is you can’t bid for a flying line if your pay only until you’re actually on flight status. Now getting in touch with Harvey Watt that’s another story. They are way behind due to Covid call outs.

There’s plenty of other ways to go about this, that could potentially work out well for you, don’t despair. Everything I’ve been hearing from people in many seats is that the company is way short. Pick up trips AVA and get paid 150%. Or cherry pick all the trips that will be proffered. If your seat position has a Facebook page, post what happened, say you’re looking for a specific sort of trip to pick up, and I bet your phone will be ringing off the hook.
The problem is not trying to pick up trips, but to get rid of them. Bit of a hassle, sure, but this could end up being a primo month for you if you like. Or get a little bit of early retirement in.
