Yep and the same guys who post photos of them being Martyr's for not answering calls from scheduling to fly draft. We get it, we're in negotiations. We've all done it. You can knock off the "holier than thou" posts.

there’s one individual on JF that definitely comes to mind. Comments on every post… gonna do more harm than good.

Is there any effort to increase first year pay? Or is that pretty much an “agreed” on starting pay since 2nd year is a large jump? What about training pay?

I am also assuming that is probably very low on the things that are important right now

Vast majority of us took a pay hit the first year to reap the rewards of a multi-million dollar career. It was upped in the last contract. Remains to be seen how much weight increasing first year and training pay will carry. Many can attest the rewards after first year are well worth the hit. At least it's not UPS' first year pay.

I agree with opt0712. The union spent time and capital getting an increase to new hire pay on the last contract. Since ALPA/FedEx have entered into specific and focused contract talks, I don't see new hire or training pay being discussed during this contract.

Of course. Completely understand. Just was curious where that lies if anything.

Yeah UPS hurts my eyes just looking at it.

Fair enough. I am sure this sounds like a type of “entitlement” question. But it wasn’t meant to sound like that, just for the record. Haha.

The industry has changed so I was sure where and if this would change.

No it didn't come off that way. Unfortunately, I don't think we have good news for your question. Way back when I made the jump to FedEx, thankfully I was in a good family and financial position to do so. The pay cut was significant but only for one year.

You have to set yourself up for success if you are going to switch to FedEx and especially UPS (they're still really low on first year pay). The second year pay helps. Being debt free gives you a lot more freedom and cushion, but I know not everyone is in that position.

Well good news is throughout my career I really haven’t made “that much” money so even the “pay cut” on first year pay isn’t too significant from the base pay I am at right now.

Like you said planning is important and that is what we are doing right now. Planning on that cut and how we are going to approach it.

I hope to see you all soon and under a good contract if I comes around before I get there.

Hmmm. I guess that you haven't read the contract openers then. But hey, you are sure that the NC is taking care of our retirement.

Was it in the openers that we were going to increase new hire and training pay? Did I miss it?
