Don’t have Buyer’s Remorse

Yeah, my post was a little flamy. The moral of the story is, we’re not looking for reasons to be upset. (Your words). There are legitimate grievances here that need addressed. So try to know your audience before pontificating. I’m happy for all the new guys that wanted and went right to the 777. I feel for the newby that was awarded the plane and commuted from ANC for three years to MEM 757. Those of us that got stepped and then stomped on have valid reasons to be upset.
I feel the “stepped on” feeling. Maybe more like Hulk Hogan body slam feeling.

I have watched both QOL and pay significantly increase at my 2 previous carriers over the last 15 years. Meanwhile here I have been introduced to how we do it - giving away major sh!t to focus solely on payrates (as ALPA National likes it). We even try to get rid of our A Plan outside of negotiations! WTF - over?
The inability of our NC to investigate the clearly degraded contract language pointed out to them in 2015TA, and the major giveaways that were so crystal clear to so many of us, yet outrightly ignored by the 'leadership' - that needs to change this time around.
We need to break the cycle of concessionary CBAs, however long the fight takes.

Thanks for that. I agree with you; it was stated in the briefing that staffing is good and the upcoming bid will be more about realignment.
I should have been clear that what follows is my opinion: We are overstaffed, but I can't quite say by how much. That calculation is above my ability as a casual observer.
But I also saw the slide in the instructor meeting with fleet numbers into FY25 (starts on 1Jun24) where the MD & Bus won't retire any tails. This is obviously fiction; not to intentionally mislead, but because the company hasn't decided yet. From what I gather, when the company does finally decide MD retirement numbers, it will produce a realignment bid.
Training Managing Director from yesterday "If you're not in the top 60% on the MD, you won't be on it in 3 years". That obviously doesn't sync with the fleet numbers slide, because firm decisions haven't been made yet.
That's why my opinion is overstaffed. If you're seeing something else, shoot. My logic is often flawed, at least that's what my wife tells me.
the instructor meeting had a lot of mixed word salad by JB. His previous job was EVP safety. You see how out of touch that program was with 5he crews. Now the maintenance guy who is inbred in FDX is going to prescribe for Express pilots what is good for them…. Yeah things are about to get all kinds of f’d up here. All the yes men on pay only aren’t here to help you, they will just get steam rolled or ReFIRED like DD. Pay and bennies don’t men anything when scope eliminates our need to exist. Yeah 5 years or less go somewhere else, wall street is about to milk every dollar out of FDX before it is broken up and sold off

Gonna be great when the pool dries up because no one in their right mind would sit and wait for this sinking ship to bring them aboard....they're all probably classing up at the legacies now.
Also great when probably 50-100 newhires all quit here soon too. Don't have to live/work in Memphis, fly more during the day, actually be able to be awarded a seat/upgrade and train sometime in a year- crazy!!!! And probably make the same if not more than this place. Anyone less than 3 years here should seriously consider it.
But hey we're overstaffed right, they'll probably welcome it.

we are overstaffed in certain seats because of our idiotic system bid and training process, that is not agile enough to respond to rapidly changing economic conditions, but we are not overstaffed as an airline. Look at how many deliveries are happening until 2025 for the 767, 777. If lower volumes persist there will we a shifting of our manning to support that instead of hiring. When business comes back there will be hiring to support bringing back airplanes from the desert.
